God how bad is it to shift players that are shit and not going to play for us . Do some of these so called footballers even want to play
Some of them no. Eric, Tanguy to name but two.

"Let's summarise. You will pay me 10K a week to train and if called up, sit on the bench for 90 mins so I can have the craic with the lads. Then, I can walk on a free with a big sign on bonus and do the same the thing somewhere else?"

I too took voluntary redundancy. It paid more than the inevitable mandatory that was coming around the corner anyway.

I wouldn't be doing it as a mid / late twenties professional footballer though.

I don't know what available means. We have PL money so could be testing the waters for a large number of top players.

Doesn't seem like we have at all. How often do teams sell a star and not replace them? Why aren't we trying to go for someone to fill his boots at all?
Is there anyone that can fill Kane’s boots?

If there is, are they in the price/wages range that Levy will spend on?

If I look at Sarr and Udogie vs UTD, I feel like that model of transfer is the only way we get another striker close to Kanes level.

Wages is a new conversation with it's own relationship to player purchases.... Do you have the energy for that right now? I"m not sure I do.
That's a first.

No, I don't care enough to bother. I just know from I've read over the years that we spend the least out of the big 6 on wages, and have long been singy with the transfer budget too. so we have plenty of room too sustain a much higher transfer spend for a few more years.

5/10 window so far

Very disappointed
I'm actually really surprised you have given it more than 0/10

It will change nothing. I don't believe he ever wanted to be here since Maureen and Wiggy have been at the helm. He wants to go back to Spain.

Shop window agitation.
Not married to GLC working out.

I don’t think we are spending another 40m on a player to give Maddison depth when he’s injured so happy to see if Gio works out.

I doubt Ange told him he was going to be a sure starter for us so no reason to believe he’s agitated after not playing in 2 games.

I’m waiting until B’muff. If he plays the way it goes will tell me what to think of GLC in Ange’s system.

I personally am confused by people who won't look at the rebuild as a net spend over x amount of years, and about the quality of the spend rather than the cost.

These conversations are utterly brutal (and bottomless pits) if one doesn't apply a bit of practicality to proceedings; such as looking at average spends, net spends, standard price sources (like TFM) etc. and not constantly pushing and pulling over what year loan obligations, add-ons etc. are attributed to........

.................No-one has the where-with-all AND the energy to conduct such complex stuff to the level of detail that a pro DOF would have to.

It's just a shame that, at times, bad faith arguments will seek to abuse the minutia to evade honest and well constructed arguments that have taken time, effort and good faith to present. (Not a ref to anything currently going on btw!)

It actually may behoove us to just keep the gunpowder dry if £55m for Jonathan David or £50m for Brennan Johnson are really the best deals on offer. Give Richy a chance.

Now obviously this is sub optimal, but panicking and spunking way too much money on back-up options in late August will lead to the same Groundhog Day over and over again, the situation we currently find ourselves in where we have expensive deadwood we need to shift.

Today’s winning post.

I guess Ange could be in love with David and we are wrong but I’m not sure because we’ve been interested for a few years…

Only thing in my mind is Canada is similar to Australia for football. Maybe the small country thing appeals to Ange

Orban 30M
Eze 70M
Tosin 20M

120M, we got 100 for Kane… okay the eze money is steep but the boy has incredible talent.

Let’s also remember we should get

25-30 for PEH
5-10 for Dier
5-10 for Sanchez
5-10 for Ndombele
10-15 for Reguilon
0-5 for Lloris
5-10 for Tanganga
10-15 for Spence

Even being quite conservative that’s 70M plus 10 for Winks..

We’d break even! I get it, it’s not football manager we’d prob need to keep one of Dier/Sanchez and some will be hard to shift (Reg) but nothing there is hugely unreasonable.

We have to get a move on with these outs..
You think we will get rid of 8 players in 10 days?

I hope you're right tho!

Those players should've been out the door when the window opened, not many of us are surprised tho!

It doesn't compare to Kroenke. FSG have never invested in the team nearly as much in terms of net-spend, they relied on sales.

It's funny cos I wish more people were prepared to admit that even a couple of years ago when many people on here were still bleating about FSGs ambitious.

Regardless, it's a basic point mate.....

FSG - Heralded for ambitious spending
FSG - Then stopped; turning a neg spend even more than ENIC were laughed at for.
KRONKE - Heralded for ambitious spending season 23/24
KRONKE - TBC

(Cont. below)

Woolwich might cut down spending at some point but the ambition and willingness to take risks goes beyond what either ENIC or FSG have attempted.

As per figures I've already presented; you're basing that statement solely on this window.

Take away this current window and there isn't some massive chasm between us and Arse.

Circling back to the OG question of how much on average we ought to expect to spend...... £200m per year is upon average way above our direct financial 'kin'.

As discussed with - Even an average £150m net is un-precedented between us/Arse/dippers..........

I don't truthfully know what we can rightfully expect.

Lille sold Osimhen and won the league the next season with David.

He’s quick, extremely two footed, can play anywhere across the front 3, can drop in or run in behind, he creates and scores goals.

I don’t think he has elite potential (Osimhen, Haaland, Kane) but he will be a level behind.

My favourite things are:
- 2 footed
- great composure, time slows down for him in the box…I’ve seen him sit keepers down
- his attitude. He is hard on himself and works very hard and is humble and self-effacing. Maybe similar to son or Kane in that respect.

I honestly can’t think of someone better to bring in. He’s perfect for us. But again … no one we could get would ever be a « Kane replacement ».

We possibly are.... not every test of the waters will be reported.

Also, it is a good question and it feels like you have the answer so how often do teams sell star players and not replace them in the same window? I'm sure it happens a fair bit.

But then how will we ever win the net spend!
