So it makes it more difficult for us to keep him, then they will try to swoop in at a dirt cheap price.

If he makes a trf request it likely costs the player in unpaid wages and bonuses....... Something that traditionally the buying club would then counterbalance for the player; so no-one is particularly worse/better off........ It just means that we'd be obliged to let him leave.

Agree but there has to be authority in the dressing room. Senior players in line with the manger. Now Harry has gone, there is a vacuum.

Will be interesting to see who fills the gap considering the massive ego of professional footballers.

If it was a cock fight (see what I did there) it's Biss or Roddy. I know Dier wants it but c'mon.

Son, Madz, & Biss...... The captains.

............Didn't Ange even say he gave the players input over their selection?

Obliged to let him leave? If a player makes a transfer request they lose their loyalty bonuses that they get paid even if they are sold, this is why they rarely make them. It's still up to the club to sell or refuse the transfer request.

Players don't get their unpaid wages when they transfer, it's only when a club is desperate for them to leave and a player plays hardball does this happen,.

Right, which is what they want. They will also count on not counterbalancing so much because they will think GLC is desperate to join them.

The buying club then typically factor that into the player's welcome package.

Not contractually obliged; but on a practical basis....... In that practical sense a T-req is a quasi-political move.

No it's not set in stone, but the short version is that one way or another they walk away on the same or better wages...... In the case where players take a pay cut (or leave on a free) that's when a the former club is left picking up the slack.

Very rarely will a player/agent leave any contracted money on the table if the slack is not being picked up at the other end.

Lots of players want to play football, they will often move with lower wages as they know their club doesn't want them and they won't play. This is especially true when an international tournament is coming up. They will take their loyalty bonus and signing on fee and take a hit on wages over the long run.

Ange said Veliz will take a long adjustment period, and there's nothing really to assess about Scarlett, he needs to go on loan, he doesn't even get on the bench when we have no backup strikers.
That's sort of my point.

Give Veliz until January to settle and assess him.
Ange needs to assess Scarlett, others at the club know him, Ange doesn't.
