AND he may leave of his own accord before then, cutting the payments.
Or who knows, he may have a personality transplant and suddenly be worth bringing in from the cold.

There is no circumstance where giving a player the entirety of the wages in one go to leave there and this is better for anyone but the player.

Differing opinions I guess, but it’s more than a coincidence that they got rid of their deadwood without too much trouble and their club has emerged from it considerably better.

You keep repeating it and you don't take it in.
You don't keep them around the club. You pay them their salary on a weekly/monthly basis and you tell them they're not to come to work. Stay away. YOU may think they're stinking up the club but in truth, they're nowhere near it.
They can either accept that or they can find a new club and that means we don't have to pay them millions in wages to play for some one else.

There is absolutely no fucking way in any parallel universe that we are paying a player and terminating their contract. The closest we will come is a free transfer whereby we don't have to pay their salary.

Virtually every player you're alluding to had a new club to go to or ran their contract down and left for free. They weren't just paying them to leave.

This Pepe guy could be good as a cheaper utility player if Perisic wants to go. Not convinced he'd actually produce more than Perisic this season tho.

Harvey Barnes is 25

Proven PL performer. At 38 mill he represents good value for a homegrown player especially with some if the stupid prices being paid these days

Barnes was great value for money honestly. But as others have said, his profile is identical to Son and we desperately need a winger with the ability to actual beat someone 1v1. I guess Johnson is somewhat better at it.

No and there's a good reason why clubs don't just 'rip up' contracts for the sake of it, it's the same for every club, not just ours.

You bring up Woolwich yet you don't care for the reason why they did what you did...ok then, if you actually cared you'd probably understand what the difference is between that scenario and this, seeing as you're so keen to refence Woolwich they sent 5 players to go and train in the reserves this week and are holding out for a transfer fee for them, how comes you haven't mentioned that?

So if Ndombele says, I am happy staying here, then any negotiation ends on paying out in full, maybe small adjustment for interest.

So it is £20m - or maybe £18m/£19m depending on interest rate.

But either way its a big lump sum to find

What if our passing opens up defences and someone like Barnes runs in behind and either shoots at goal or passes/crossed to a teammate to score? He worked very well with Maddison at Leicester so could have done the same here.

Johnson can't beat a man with skill. I like him but he is mostly all about speed and clever runs behind opponents defences.

Son is finished as a wide attacker, he no longer has the pace. He needs to keep learning how to play centrally as a striker, that's his best option now imo

When it comes to the crunch; the player is still not obliged to accept any terms of release that you offer.......

With no club they they fancy on the horizon; they've no motivation to do so.

If ndombele says he is happy to stay then of course he will just keep receiving the salary he is on. In that case there is no reason for the club to just pay him off and let him also leave for free. That's a win win for Ndombele which is unacceptable....... If he won't negotiate a proper settlement which is much less than the 20 mill then the club will find him a club to go out on loan to like they did with Napoli.

Yeah that’s all well and good, but at no point has there been any confirmation that a fee has been agreed with Spurs for any of the above mentioned players, regardless of their preference as to where they wanted to go?

For example, the above reports say that “Spurs would like for Eric Dier to leave this month” which is fine, but if it well known in Transfer Market circles that Daniel Levy will require, let’s say for arguments sake £15 million for Eric Dier, its likely to lessen
the chances of clubs coming in for him?

We now have journalists with known ties to the club saying that Levy is very likely causing issues with us moving players on due to his valuations. I think it’s beyond any reasonable doubt now that that it is an issue.

That maybe the case but we don't know what offers he will have if other clubs knew he will be available on a free. One or two might tempt him, that's where the negotiations come in.Start the talks with him and his agents and who knows what options will appear
