thats what im thinking maybe reggie type compromise perhaps, where we can buy him next year at a fee around 35-40 mill then they have a buy back for the next 2 years at 70-80

straight loan makes no sense
I was thinking of the Reguilon deal too.

But you have to understand why that's WAY worse than a straight loan.

We get all the downside if he's bad or his fitness craps out in a Reguilon-style deal, while STILL losing the player to the buyback if he's a massive success.

Risk not worth the reward, a bad financial gamble.

Mixed bag this summer

Maddison: club identified a critical but weak area of the team, signed him good and early, no messing about and got him for what looks like a steal.

Vicario: another weak area of the team identified and addressed early. Still not convinced that Raya wasn't the better option, time will tell.

Micky VDV. Another weak area of the team. Every man and his dog knew we needed 2 centre backs yet we've only signed one. Signed a mere 3 days before the 1st game of the season. Absolutely disgraceful that the coach and team were put in that position. Easy to overlook this now due to our recent results and how well VDV has taken to things but a completely unnecessary and avoidable risk.

2nd centre back. Still pending with 48 hours to go.

Replacement striker for kane. MIA. Kane left 2 weeks ago and the club knew it was a very definite possibility since June and still had nothing lined up or nothing done in the last 2 weeks.

It doesn't really make sense from a strict financial sense, but if he can perform well he can help us do well this season which may be worth his wages.

He is 1 year younger than Fati and scored more league goals than Fati ever did, albeit in a weaker league, blocking his development for a loan player who isn't even a striker really doesn't make sense for me.
Sure he needs time to adjust to life in England, but what are we gonna do after January, when he'll want to play, block him for a loanee?
Veliz is not getting game time this season.

He's behind Son, Rich and Scarlett at this point. He's not a concern for this season's squad building.

12m loan for one year no buy option and covering his full 230 k wages

this could either be smart or backfire
Find it bizzare. Very championship developing another sides youngster. Last time we did that was Frazier Campbell. Only way it starts to make any sense is if he is absolutely amazing, plays a huge part in getting CL (or an FA cup) but then we're waving him off at the end of May, along with Son and probably a few others. So its not succession planning, just seems a bit blind panic....also makes Solomon look just a waste of time.

Veliz would be best served playing U21s.

They play the exact same way as the first team (So hopefully pathway is clearer) so he can get used to the style of football whilst playing at a level he should be better than. But it'll be him getting game time and keeping fit whilst training with the first team and getting used to the country and style.

It tells me that Kane is a more in-demand player than Dier or N’Dembele.
What else am I supposed to glean from this immensely helpful breakdown?

He's already proven himself playing men's football, dropping him into the U21s will give him no benefit.
