The reports for weeks previous to us hearing about Hugo turning down offers was that the club would let him go on a free due to his years of service. There is zero indication that the club was an issue in any regard. You keep suggesting this but there is nothing saying this is the case.

Hugo rejected Lazio because he wanted to start.
Hugo rejected Newcastle for the same reasons.
Hugo rejected Nice due to timing and uncertainty around his role.

There is so little difference between paying out a player from their contact and letting them go on a free that it doesn’t matter in this situation.

Letting him go for free is not the same as paying off the remaining year of his contract and giving him the freedom to choose his next club.

Sorry but I see no negative in both these WOS's leaving the club, really delighted to see the back of them if it happens.

The only downside is TD's 'option to buy' which probably will not be taken up in which case we should have him arrested for attempting to impersonate a football player.

As for leaving us short, how so? Davinson is a fecking liability and we'd be better off playing with 10 men and that lazy barsteward TD contributes absolutely nothing other than infect the dressing room with his 'couldn't give a fuck' attitude.

We are well shot and I hope Gala don't cotton on too quickly they are getting a defender who can't defend and midfielder who offers very little for the most of his playing time.

Davinson was better than Dier imo.

IMO it all went downhill after Poch strangely dropped him after an awesome first season.

Either way didn’t work out and wish him the best at Galatasaray. I’m sure he’ll be in Italy or Spain before too long, at one of the mid table clubs.

I think they will cotton on quickly, we need to be thankful that, they have not done their homework.

No matter who steps in if one of Romero or VDV are out, we’d be much weaker. There’s a big drop off from them to Sanchez, Davies, Dier. But not a massive drop off from Sanchez to Davies or Dier. M

Selling Sanchez makes sense. Get some money for him and save his wages whilst we can.

Just as Galatasaray have done with Sanchez, Ndombele has been registered with the Turkish Football Federation.

It's happening. Both of 'em gone.
I can hardly believe it.

I’m absolutely delighted Sanchez has gone and Dier being frozen out. They have done nothing but cost us game after game and i for one am fed up with them both. Even Sanchez managed to get us knocked out the cup as a parting gift. He’s a fucking liability and I’m glad him and Dier won’t be fucking up in defence any longer for us. I would much rather have an extremely talented Phillips and Dorrington as backup.

Every window is proof that some fans just like to whinge and have a go at the club.

We need to get rid of players who are not good enough. The club are doing that.

All helps the rebuild.

The weirdest thing with Dier is that, I'd imagine, the best thing for him would be to play zero minutes this season. It'll get toxic if he plays.

Our fanbase universally wanted him gone and he'll be horrendously exposed by Ange's playing style. Sanchez was also a bit of a lightning rod for fan ire, so with him gone I doubt there'd be patience for Dier in any way.

Honestly, it's all a little disappointing. I expected Ndombele to be happy sitting on his arse and taking a pay cheque but really thought Dier would value some game time (if not needing to take a pay cut).

In the olden days you could still loan to the EFL after the window closed. But not any more:

What happens after 23:00:00 on Friday 1 September?

The transfer window will close at 23:00:00. Any applications received on or after this time will be rejected as being out of time. Once the transfer window has closed, clubs are only able to register an ‘Out of Registration’ player or an Emergency Loan Goalkeeper (in accordance with Regulation 58).

Very happy fatboy and Sanchez are heading out the door. Surplus to requirements the pair of them. Yes, Sanchez might have been 'adequate' back-up but you simply can't turn down the chance to sell him. The fact we are well short of sufficient CB cover is on Baldy's utter incompetence, but I'd rather see the back of the deadwood even if it leaves us vulnerable in the short term.

Time to well and truly clear the decks!

So who is playing cb? Romero and Vdv? If they get injured, Dier and some kid? I’m happy Sanchez is hesding off, but they really needed to sign two cbs in the window.
Welcome Eric Dier back into the match day squads everyone!

Pray for Romero and VdV’s health.

Sanchez needed to be moved on obviously but it should happened after we brought in another CB. Sanchez was clearly Ange’s 3rd choice CB so this is a risky move. Sanchez is bad but Dier is much worse. Dier playing in a high line … shudder. Wish we’d seen Phillips get some game time against Fulham.

Well it's not ideal we should have got another quick senior CB even if it cost big money....But I feel slightly ecstatic. The blokes doing exactly what the NFL coach said, making room in an established dressing room that has failed for success to enter. Break up the entire leadership group bin longstanding failures and put belife in young players to step up. Loris (all but released) Kane (sold) Hojbjerg for sale hugely diminished role) Dier ( clearly unwelcome) Tanguy (Kebabs) Sanchez (sold) Winks(sold)

I know that we fans want everything to get done in a summer window, but I feel similarly.

For a single transfer window (Ange's first, Scott Munn not even officially working for us yet, and Paratici pulling the strings in a 'consulting' capacity for legal reasons), we got rather a lot accomplished. Many like to point towards the difference in our squad between now and the CL final, but you can look even more recently at the League Cup final team we put out against Man City to see the difference:

>everyone bar Son and Hojbjerg are gone (either sold or on loan)
>only Son makes the starting lineup
>an entirely different set of captains and vice captains

Even the Dier frustration is mitigated by the fact that no European football means we hopefully won't need to use him at all. He's gone next summer one way or the other, at which point bringing in a new CB should be a relatively simple task.

The only other 'top' team with this kind of change in the same time is Chelsea (I think?) and we know how insane their recruitment has been.
