It's less about not rating but look at the best midfielders in the PL and their combinations and then compare.

So Woolwich have a better all round midffield, so maybe do Liverpool, City obviously. Scum club have the players if not the cohesion as yet and United. I think Newcastle have strength if not the creativity of a Maddison for example.

I hope I am wrong but I feel we lack 'the man' and what I mean by that is the player who can and does stand above all at any given time.
I would back out midfield vs Utd, Newc and Chelsea 100%. Liverpool is TBC

Weird take. I get the depth issue - Hoj and Skipp are levels below

Has Bissouma not been ‘the man’?

Nope. Fair enough but I disagree.

I think we are a player (a top midfielder short).

Find that player and a striker and I think we are truly competitive.

Right now I think we are riding a wave.

#6 Biss
#8 Sarr / Bentancur
#10 Maddison

Who you gonna drop come January?

So definitely need a centre half in January.

Midfield has good quality and numbers. Unless PEH leaves I really can't see much movement.

I think Sonny, might just be our main CF for next couple of years. So in that case I think we spend big on a left winger as Perisic contract ending aswell as Sonny moving inside leaves us just with Solomon.

If Richarlison continues his poor form for the club I can see both parties going separate ways.

One player who I think would be a shrewd bit of business if Richarlison leaves is Dominic Solanke, he has excellent ball control, good physically has decent hold up play I think he's ready to take off and wouldn't cost a bomb so could spend a good chunk on a top draw LW.

January: Gallagher and a CB

Summer: pay whatever it takes up to 125m and 300k/week for the best attacking player you convince to join (Osimhen, Leao, Ferguson, Kvaratskhelia, Lautaro, Rashford, Mitoma, whoever else looks up for it).

If we add depth at CB and midfield in the winter, I genuinely think the only purchase we’ll need in the summer is a world class attacking player. Do what Liverpool did when they were on the precipice of breaking out as team, dedicate your funds to an elite player who can push you over the top like Van Dijk and Alison did.
Agree but not Gallagher. We need more skillful technicians in the 8 role. If we have fast forwards then they less likely to be as technical as attacking mids. You still players who can make a great pass. If anything we need a proper 6 for Biss cover and another play maker in the 8 role. Skipp and PEH as a 6 is not ideal as neither really play that role. They are only ‘good’ in a two in front of 3 CBs.

Who is going to sign him and how much do you think Levy is going to be willing to lose on him (given we spent £60 million).

Doubt he's going anywhere soon.

I noted two examples where it worked quite well, for a club that was below us back then and in a similar building stage to where we are now.

If we address CB depth in January, there just isn’t a lot of positions we’ll need filling this summer. I don’t see any reason to not prioritize elite expensive talent, assuming we can attract it, we have most of the squad already assembled.

Identify and bring in some quality young prospects too if you have the cash. But we’ve got legitimate depth at every position at CB, we’re lacking explosive/world class talent in the front three.
Replace davies at LB cover and maybe move royal on for a more faster and technical RB.

Yeah good point. Although I still think he will have interest as he still relatively young and seems to have a good attitude in that he still puts himself about. But yeah not for 60 million.

Hopefully he still comes good.

Well he needs to pull his socks up then as we can’t have another expensive flop stinking out the place and taking up a squad position. Take whatever we can get for him in jan and a buy a young forward. I’d say most clubs in the PL have better forwards than him. Probably even in the champo, never mind what we could find in Europe or from around the world. The scouting department should already be looking at players to come in for rich if they are doing their job properly.

1. He's clearly trying so not sure what you mean by 'pull his socks up'. He's not missing chances on purpose.

2. Easy to say 'take whatever we can get' but it's not your money. If we get offered, say, £15 million for him in January, there is no chance...and I mean no chance that Levy is going to accept that.

3. He's Brazil's number 9 - your comment on 'most clubs in the PL and in the champo' having better forwards than him is pure stupidity and hyperbole. If you're going to post, make it sensible. Cheers.

I think we'll have a meltdown in here if we sign Dominic Solanke mate!.....

Im saying we could get better output from a host of other players who would cost a lot less. Pull his socks up means fucking learning to control a football ( something a £60M player should be able to do), not fall over so much, make decent passes and assist and find the back of the net more. Not really asking for a lot here from a £60M player tbh. As for the money obvs not £15M however if he shows no real signs of improving then it will be same scenarios as tanguy who btw has much better stats for us.
Being Brazil no 9 couldn’t give a shite. They couldn’t as a team including rich beat an oap Croatia team. It’s what he does for spurs that counts.
Anyways if your happy with his output so far in spurs shirt for the outlay then we obvs agree to disagree.

Could you please find in my post where I said I was happy with his output so far?

I'll wait. Feel free to apologise when you can't.

And you can fuck off comparing him to that fat Ndumbelly twat - at least Richie wants to fucking play.

If Richy doesn't improve his form, we just need to make the call and cut our losses like we are doing with Ndombele.

They were terrible misses. But on the other hand we got Biss for 25m and Maddison at 40m which look like absolute steals and we got Solomon for free. VDV and Vicario are even looking like bargains.

So we've had some good value deals where we got players for 'unders' too.

You can say that, but Levy is not going to go from spending £60m on him to selling him for, say £15m, that quickly.

Just not going to happen.

I don't think it would come to that as long as we were decisive about it either Jan or next summer..... I see no reason why he couldn't slot back into his old role somewhere in the prem.

EG: I think replacing Mitro at Fulham could have been a good fit.... They had a nice chunk of dosh to play with too.
