Player Sergio Reguilón

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Reguillon wasn't liked by Conte IMO because he wasn't disciplined enough to get back, and when he actually did, was 50/50 to win the ball.
I'd actually say he reminds me of a left sided Porro until (very) recently. 80% forward 20% defender, causes a bit of havock but not great at the back.

With Perisic moving forward (and now probably finished) and Sess being pointless, I'm still surprised we loaned Reguilon out.
Porro is a lot better at getting forward than Reggy. Better passer, better crosser, better shot, and faster. I get the likeness though ... Reggy is a poor man's Porro.

And yet, in this 6 minute video, he's done more for Spurs than Sessegnon has in 4 years.

I'm not saying he's a title winning player. I'm saying I find it hard to believe we let him go and kept Sessegnon who is absolutely shit.

Yes, but Sess is injured so unloanable and un-sellable. I don't rate Sess either.

Perisic getting injured has made the Reggy loan slightly more awkward, but ultimately we have Udog and Davies (who is a much better option to have in the squad than Reggy). In some ways an old hand like-for-like replacement for Perisic at the end of the season wouldn't be a bad idea (if one exists).

"Spurs' emergency backup LB has been our best player the last two games what a sad state of affairs."

It really hasn't. Perisic as a WB (not LB!) died with Conte.
We're only 5 games in. Perisic is likely a much better LB than Sess. That's the issue. Davies is a better LB than Sess also, and possibly than Perisic (not convinced about that tbh), but I think Reggy likely is a better LB than Perisic.

So effectively IP's injury brings Sess one step closer to the first team, though still thankfully third choice.

Reguilon was on loan last season at Atletico Madrid, and it didn't go well - played very little, partly but not solely due to injury.

Seems not to have impressed Ange in early pre-season, whereas Udogie and Davies did. Reguilon was 'lucky' that ManU had injuries and he's been given a chance at a good level to show what he can do - and really glad to see he is impressing.

He's at ManU on loan for season, and if he's there for the season its up to ManU whether they want to buy him. There's also a break clause in January when ManU or any other club could bid for him. My guess is if there is a bid of £30m or £40m, Spurs will sell to reinvest in the squad, and find another back up Left Back. If no bid is big enough, Spurs will re-assess at the end of the season.

Perisic is played as a winger now, and injured with contract coming to an end at end of the season, so has no impact on Reguilon

Sessegnon injured atm, so not loanable. When fit he'll have an opportunity to impress Ange - lets see but I'm not optimistic.

Davies has 2 years left on his contract, and like all players will probably be re-assessed next summer. He's been a reliable defender but not great going forward.

If Ange is unhappy with players, there is an opportunity to do something in January, but I suspect its not a priority in January and a better selection of players next summer.

I am pretty sure that Spurs would accept bids that are much less than £30-40m - more like around £15m give an take a few millions...

Atm, and based on their last couple of games, ManU might think he's cheap at £30m - £40m, particularly when they've paid a lot more for players he's showing up. And that might set the market value ?

I think we find out at the end of the season unless a £30m-£40m bid comes in January.

In pre-season I'd probably be happy to take £20m

Gotta be a bit concerned, if he keeps up his form, Madrid may exercise their buy-back clause.

(Shush, Utd scouts might be reading)

Conceded 7 in their last 2 games with weakling stick legs in the side

They won’t want him, he’s shit
He is indeed weak but he's the only one trying to play football in that team. Apart from hojlund he is the only one making regular off the ball runs.

Maybe not good enough for us but easily good enough for them. They've got fat Shaw and some little Dutch kid at LB.

This is exactly how Reguilon started with us, we got excited just because he runs around like a lunatic.

After a few weeks of him shanking crosses to nobody, diving when he has a chance to shoot, constantly fouling in their own half, getting injured every other week etc, they will soon go sour on him.

He's had enough chances under different managers to show he's not needed here.
Plus, he's never getting in front of Udogie at this point.

Hope he has a decent season and we get a good fee for him at the end of it.

Agree

Football is about styles and needs

He would be a poor fit for us but a good fit for them. Doesn’t mean he’s shit or excellent

Agree with everyone saying we shouldn't have let him go... he is much better than Davies at LB. Davies should only played as the backup LCB in this system. We have weakened our squad letting Reggy go.

I personally think Ndombele is better than skipp too but anyhow
