Manager Ange Postecoglou

Report on Ange so far lads?

Hate to say it but I told you all. I said he would unite the club and the fans as a leader, play great high energy football, improve the players already there and his signings will be top notch. He always signs players who not only fits into his style but for their personality also. They will run non stop for him and be willing to run through brick walls

You must be thanking your lucky stars Slott said no. I'm cursing the fact he did

We played Feyernoord this week in the Champions League, should have been a couple of goals up early on against them. They are extremely average as is their style of football. We lost 2-0 but we were down to 9 men. I think we will give them a doing at Celtic Park

Enjoy him while he is here, I wouldn't be surprised if he will not be short of offers in a couple of years
One thing I've noticed is that he doesn't get too emotionally involved (not a huggy, touchy feely person) which helps him make (very good) clear headed decisions. Thats not to say that he is disloyal, but would explain why he has been quite itinerant in his career. Hope some of his magic rubbed off and stuck with the bhoys.

Postecoglou doesn’t mind not being first choice

Speaking to Gary Lineker for Football Focus (via The Athletic), Postecoglou has given an honest assessment of that situation, and insists he doesn’t mind that he wasn’t the top pick for the job.

He said: “In both jobs [Celtic and Spurs] no one will come out and say it but I think I was the last man standing for both of them.” The 58-year-old laughs, before adding: “They got rejected by a fair few and I ended up being the only one left. Which is OK, I’ll take that.”

It's very interesting because Ange even says himself he doesn't get too close but the players are literally calling saying he's like an uncle, Bissouma said he's like a father a couple days ago.

It's going better than I personally could ever have imagined. We played some really shocking shite under the last few managers, I didn't even think it was physically possible for any coach to instruct and teach these players such a polar opposite way in such a short time. & it goes further than that, to play this entertaining gung ho football and be getting results whilst looking reasonably solid is incredibly impressive.

The only thing that concerns me is things out of our control really, namely injuries to some key players (Bissouma/Maddison).
Was there ever any burnout amongst the players? Ange seems very smart and experienced so despite the crazy running stats I trust he knows what he's doing.

He's also got a very strong connection to his father who was also supportive but not tactile etc. Its the opposite of Poch who got very involved with the players. I think that clouded his judgement with Kane in the Champs final for instance. Moura should have started that one.

Let's see what happens tomorrow. Technically this and Liverpool away is the hardest game we have as we haven't won at either in forever and rarely even get a point.

But result aside, I just want us to go there and play football. We've generally looked like cowards there for years now. 1 league cup win and a few draws in the middle period of Poch is it. After that, as soon as the chips were down, we completely fell apart there.

I don't want to see any of that cowardice tomorrow.

His first 6 months at Celtic we had quite a few injuries, especially a lot of snapped hamstrings while the players got to grips with the amount of work Ange demands from the players. He always used to make subs at the 60 minute mark as well, usually always two at the same time. He uses subs and squad very smartly to try and avoid burnout and makes every player in the squad feel included. The second season the injuries decreased as the squad were used to his demands. He improved the squad that much the players who came into replace injured players didn't affect the team as much as it would have under a coach who wasn't as good at improving players

Make no mistake, Ange will be targeting a top 4 finish this season. He would have been from day one

He is very distant with the players, doesn't have lunch with them and pretty much let's them run the dressing room. He considers the dressing room the players space

He said at Celtic being distant with players makes it easier to leave players out of the team and have no favourites

He's definitely left a lasting legacy at Celtic. The money he spent on players considering what they are worth now is pretty wild. The likes of Kyogo for £4 million, Hatate for £1.4 million, Matt O'Reilly for £1.5 million and Jota for £6 million (we sold for £25 million). He also signed Jospi Juranovic for £2 million and sold him after one season to Union Berlin for £12 million

He turned Cameron Carter Vickers who you guys probably thought was a bit shitty into an excellent centre back who has been excellent in the Champions League for us

His success rate in the transfer market at Celtic was truly insane. Every player he signed is worth multiple more millions what he paid for them

I was told a while ago that the reason Kane played was because he had it in his contract that he starts when fit. Poch was going to start Moura, but Kane came in with Levy and Charlie to tell Poch that Kane was deemed fit and wanted to start.

I don't know if there's any truth in this, so take it as you will.

I can't see similar happening with our players, simply because they'd have had all that conditioning previously under Conte. His preseasons are brutal as well.

We were well down the line with Eddie Howe before he pulled out at the last minute as he couldn't bring in the backroom staff he wanted. Turned out to be brilliant for Celtic

Eddie Howe has been good for Newcastle but if you are asking if he is on Ange level, I'd say no way. Ange is a far better manager than Howe
