The arrogance with which Merson spouts his, 'see what happens if you attack us!' line is something I've heard echoed this week from gooners I know. If you've watched those goals they scored against PSV you'll observe the following:
1. Weak defending with too much backing off, followed by poor keeping and a bit of luck
2. A weakly struck but accurate shot from outside the box which shouldn't really go in
3. A good goal that has nothing to do with whether you 'attack' Woolwich. However, suspect closing down as well.
4. Another weakly struck but accurate shot that the keeper should have done better with. Again, nothing to do with PSV being overly attacking.
I can't see them scoring these goals against us... maybe one, but 4 like this? Must be having a laugh.
This narrative is nonsense and they've got themselves believing that Spurs will just be 'playing into their hands'. How many teams have thought they could exploit Ange's aggressive tactics only to be put to the sword? Maybe it's too early, but the arrogance by which our threat is dismissed is pathetic.
