I thought the general notion was that people wanted Levy to "back the manager"(*).....

(*I mean; I firmly believe that what a lot of them actually mean is "I want Levy to spend annually spiraling amounts on the players that I want", but that's the espoused rhetoric at least........)
I guess everyone has their definition of the word, mine is that the manager should be given the players he needs to succeed, even if it costs a pretty penny; not doing whatever the manager wants.

A good manager is not necessarily a good scout.

He’s got to play on the right at least for this season to build his confidence. Hasn’t really played much on the left in his career so it’s not easy. Both wide forwards inverted didn’t help anyone last night, just really closed the space down for us.

I can see he’s a good player, touch, technique and pace all pretty good, just doesn’t have the balance in his movement on the left at the moment.

Perhaps I've got it all wrong but I though he WAS a cut in and shoot player that Forest favoured from the right.

I thought the flip to the left was about him NOT being inverted and trying to get him to play a bit more like a trad winger instead.
At forest his goals were usually drilled shots from the right hand side (or up top). His approach play was usually him running in from the right (or even up top). Personally I actually believed his best position was centrally but having seen him closer now he's joined us he looks like he can do a job on the left if called upon BUT would be more effective on the right.

Moving forward it's probably best to play him on the right rather then judging him playing In a position he's rarely played in.

time to give Donley a go.

One shit signing isn’t the end of the world. He might come good and absolutely clear as day he doesn’t have a he tools to attack from the left

The wingers coming inside, with inverted full-backs underlapping plus whoever the 10 and the 8 are occupying the same space is defo a problem. It’s contesting the middle of the pitch.

Our wingers need to be able to go both ways to give the opposing full-back problems.

Perisic and Manor do that.

Oh he had absolutely shit game. Nervous, anxious, no composure.
Did not create nor finish.

But that was that - very shit performance.
Does not mean he is shit player and we should write him off right here and now.

Most likely starts against Toon as well, based on our injury list... Hope he does better then.

I think he's shown flashes of genuine talent and can do good things but last night was poor, he totally hid in the second half (like Sonny) which was a bit worrying. He's a very young player though and I expected this inconsistency, I just hope he grows into the role and gains some confidence.

I’m not saying like for like. Of course that would be absurd.

But we need players to come in and make an *immediate* impact. Look at the difference Udogie has made, in comparison to Sess. And VdV to Dier.

It’s about technical quality and self-belief.

It’s not really about the lad. I hope he fills his boots. It’s about how we spend money and build the squad. We have a habit of overpaying on underwhelming players.

Sorry but your original message did convey the idea of a like for like; ‘replacing the goals of Harry Kane’
