Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Have you got hidden cams & mics inside my house, Richy?! Fuck me, my Italian pal of 40+ years came over earlier and, as we always do when we get together, we start by talking a little football. Then we get on to the football. And a bit more football before he jets off just in case we missed anything. Being as anti-Inter as it comes, he was over the moon with last night's result and he kept going on about that Zirkzee kid, he reckons he's one of the 4 or 5 best under-23s in Serie A right now and will be a top player in Europe within the next 2-3 seasons. Made a parallel with Salah, who flopped at Chelsea before finding his groove at Fiorentina then Roma, which got him the Dippers move and the rest is history.

Thought the Salah comp was a bit much and that he might be a bit over-optimistic about the lad's future, but then again I'm nowhere near as clued up as he is on all things Serie A, though I watch it fairly regularly. fogueres fogueres - whatcha think, brother?

Some will point to the fact Bayern waived Zirkzee, but 1/ look at who they got up front, the competition is mad 2/ they got that buy-back clause...so they still fancy him enough. He did well in Belgium a couple years ago, scored a fair few goals there. And now he's doing it in a top 5 league, shows the kid's got it in him to up his game. So yeah definitely one to watch, I'm sure we're already doing so with the Don Fabio connection and all.

Disagree on Bissouma.

Maddison and Bentancur are fair points but our season will be dependant on them staying fit again regardless of what we can sign in the January window.

GLC probably goes in January tbh.

I would be reasonably excited by replacing PEH and GLC with Gallagher though. Just not sure it's a priority compared to a new #6.
You disagree on Biss? As in, you don't think he's out of form & a liability the way he picks up yellows & reds in his sleep?

Okay then...

Yeah it's almost as if our default setting when it comes to transfers is "sign foreign players". Surely there aren't any English kids as good as that Ajax lad? I don't believe that. Pisses me off, especially when our youth setup has been so shite them past few years. Perhaps if we focused on local talent, kids who understand what Spurs means, heck who are fans themselves, and who don't need to adapt to a new country/language/culture.

I ain't doing politics here, let's be clear. But whether it's for the youthies or the 1st team, yeah it annoys me how we always seems to look abroad before we even think of having a look closer to home.

Lol, great minds I guess.

Bayern have Kane and Tel so really don’t need him. We reportedly have decent relationship with Bayern as well.

Come on Don Fabio work your magic

Guy is unreal. Absolutely dream signing.

Owned by City Football Group so far from an easy deal to do.
Interesting player, for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if the City Group - and other groups owning multiple clubs - run into trouble at some point for them weird transfers. The French press has done a few pieces over the past couple years on Troyes, and now on Lyon (same owner as Palace) & Strasbourg (owned by Chelsea)...talking about how using the smaller clubs like Troyes to sign players who then go on loan to better entities might be a bit dodgy FFP-wise and get looked at by the authorities eventually.

I mean, that Savio kid is Troyes' record signing and he never played for them...God knows they could've used him. Same old City shit! And as usual, they won't get punished if/when the shit hits the fan. The players could well get banned, though.

But yeah sorry, I digress.
