Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

First season back he got 16 goals in 40 games across all comps...that's not a bad return, especially as he also assisted a few (3 in the Bundesliga). This season he's only played 8 times in the league, of which 2 were starts, and his average GT isn't even a half hour. Still bagged a couple goals.

It's been tough for him cause he's missed a lot of games through injuries them past 2 years...done his back, ankle, adductors...also had Covid & subsequent shockwaves.

But mainly, they've signed that Xavi Simons kid on loan from PSG and as he's a left-sided AM/winger, well he's taken Werner's minutes. Up top they've also signed Openda and that Sesko lad United & Chavs are said to be after...they've both been playing, scoring (for fun in Openda's case) so tough to drop them. Poulsen gets more mins than Werner as a sub, even Forsberg got more gametime before he left.

Think the lad has just been a bit unlucky, a move to us could do him some good. But his injury record, more than his lacks of goals & confidence, is the major concern...

Had a quick look and he played 6 of those games last season off the left and scored 3 with an assist. He can be a decent Son stand in.

It’s definitely not the creative forward we need but he might be handy for the rest of the season. He’s rapid so that’s always handy off the bench.

I think at the end of the day, it's another forward option and it's a loan, it's a sign to me that Levy is at least backing the manager or trying to back the manager.

Teams don't sell their best players (especially forwards) in January unless you spend ludicrous sums on them and even then, most players don't want to leave a club mid season.

So realistically players like TW are what we can expect and honestly he might surprise everyone, I am just happy that we seem to be making decisive and swift moves in the market to try and back the manager.

There aren't any negatives to this. We're bringing someone in on loan and presumably, have only got to pay his salary.

He offers something different to Richarlison, pace and agility and even if he doesn't score, his pace will stretch defences creating chances for our other players to do so. If he flops, he goes back to Germany and we bring in a forward in the summer when the market is more favourable.

None of us know how he'll get on, maybe he'll be shit, maybe Ange and the style we play will suit him down to the ground.

Be positive!
And that'll see us develop a special relationship with yet another big club

This is a typical Levy title challenge type move

I slated it on principle in the Levy thread , however I also said I could see him actually working for Ange , just think he might fit . Seems strange typing I could see Werner the massive flop working

Levy had nothing to do with Werner directly imo.

His budget constraints would be the reason we aren’t going hard for a big transfer but after that, this has fuck all to do with him imo

A stop gap that actually might do very very well. I said after the game last night we lack pace at centre forward when Sonny is away and I don’t just mean 40 yard sprints in behind but those quick 5 yard sprints that gives a striker a yard to get a strike away. Richy can’t offer that. Deki can’t offer that. Johnson is the slowest quick player I’ve seen so getting a nippy sharp striker in might be genius.

I think it can work as long as people temper their expectations.

He’s going to score some goals in our system and he’s still the player he is at 27 so will miss some chances.
