Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

and with Gallagher's contract expiring in 18 months time it explains why Chelsea and media supporters want to get £50m for him now.

In summer with 12 months left on his contract I'd suggest a value of more like £15m - £20m.

No idea why anyone thinks he's worth anything like £ 50m, he really isn't !

It is mad, isn’t it. Just like spending £30m on Nusa is likewise.

We need to find value in the market at a time when we hold quite a strong hand financially (although I suspect that is overplayed slightly as we have spent) in that we can and other clubs can’t. It’s why going for players this window is a good plan as there’s less competition.

There summer market will be a strange one too. Quite at the beginning before kicking off in July I suspect.

I understand the sentiment in general that O'Keefe makes, but regarding Gallagher specifically, isn't it very much a flog him in January to balance the books for this tax year kind of thing for Chelsea? It's too late for that come the summer.

They’ve got till 30 June to sell him. That’s the end of the accounting year for football clubs. Or alternatively they could sell a whole load of their foreign turds they bought and try to make the money back that way. Harder to get the money back though of course. But if nobody wants Gallagher they won’t have much choice.

His contract will have less than a year by then

Also, if they get 50M now it will enable them to have headroom to sign Oshimen

No disrespect to the kid, I totally understand his reasons for picking Brentford, but fuck Nusa. Never worth 30 mil all things considered. So fair play to our decision-makers for not taking things further. If he ends up smashing it at Brentford and becoming a true world beater, so be it. You win some, you lose some.

Let's go and get Jack Clarke. Give Sunderland their 15-20 mil knowing some will be discounted cause of that clause when we sold him. They can even keep him til summer.

I'd also keep an eye on that Zhegrova kid from Lille...think it was Starks Starks who mentioned him a few pages back. Still pretty raw but such an exciting player. Seen him live and man, whenever he gets the ball, he has you on the edge of your seat, you just know he's gonna try something. Lille have always had a knack for spotting future stars and he looks like he could be the next big thing. But they're tough to bargain with, they tend to sell for big wads...that being said, they're in need of cash.
