I think its more that there are very few decent options out there this January - so whilst we will keep on looking we will only bring in players good for us in the long term.

There are 17 games to go until end of the season, mainly one game a week, and we have a good sized squad so no desperate need to add to the squad now. If a great opportunity came along we'd definitely talk - but for example we have 6 or 7 CM's (Bentancur, Bssouma, Sarr, Skipp, Maddison, Hojbjerg Lo Celso .. and Kulusevski dividing his time between CM and RW) so difficult to find game time for all we have now this season, let alone adding another.

And few clubs have cash or ffp headroom to buy either.

So we've brought in the players we needed, and we'll wait until Summer if no great opportunities show themselves.

Not sure what you have watched... Biss was brilliant for first 7 rounds and either dogshit or straight out missing in next 14. So twice the time he has been good, he has been nothing. Not press resistant, not mobile, not reliable. Bentancur is much more aware on the ball than Bissouma...

We go in early doors, spend time and money (travel etc) for a player who's so set on Barca, we end up reading the likes of "should've splashed the cash you bald this & that". We go in late after it appears Barca can't finance the deal, it's "we shoulda gone earlier, missed the boat" etc.

Reality is, you win less transfers than you lose some. And there's a heck of a lot more involved than just money and timing, though important factors they sure are.

The Barca thing I just understood what Richard was saying.

But in general I think we're not taking opportunities to build a side for a future in this window and it will be to difficult to fix everything in the summer.

Not sure his contract status means much this season. If Gil leaves, Werner was his replacement. It doesn't really leave us short in anyway. Son, Werner, Johnson, Richarlison and when back from injury Solomon gives us enough depth on the left side.

We then re-evaluate in the summer. If Werner isn't signed, we'll just sign someone else.
 
I don't rate Gil but maybe it's best we keep him until at least the summer being that Solomon looks like a write off?

Richi, Son, Werner, Kulu and Johnson for 3 positions isn't enough cover imo.
