Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The window in June is short and if something happens to Gallagher say an injury they can’t sell or sell for much. They need the money for June 30th for FFP and having a two week summer window is a massive gamble. The media is constantly reporting Gallagher to us, Broja for sale, this is Chelsea shitting their pants and getting the word out they need sales now.

I think they will have to sell for under £20m - only question is whether they do that now or wait until the 6 weeks between end of season and 30 June.

I can't see anyone wanting to bid any higher given ffp, and especially if Gallagher's wage demands are geared to what he sees Chelsea paying to some of their £100m signing flips.

I wonder if they have a wages budget for him - Spanish FA had set down rules for them, something like they needed to have offloaded £3 of wages for every £1 of wages for a new player.

That might mean Barcelona wait until end of season when highly paid players out of contract, and they can then add to payroll (ie they cannot sd him to payroll until 1 July) ?

Probably going to their academy so maybe counted differently?

Not saying a player should reject Barcelona, but that club is simply about tradition at presekt. Not much else.

Like cnut club but in a very different way, I would steer clear if I were a player.

UEFA's judgement was that City was guilty, both of the charges and of obstructing the investigation.

City appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which ruled that most of the allegations were time-barred, so they lifted their Champions League ban and reduced the fine.

The same charges were resurrected in England where the League and FA were not limited by time, and here we are
Why have you just left out the fact that CAS found no evidence against City in relation to the most serious of UEFA’s charging, namely covering up the origin of earnings?

The only thing CAS found City guilty of was for failing to co-operate fully with the UEFA investigation.

If City are indeed cheats as we all believe, I hope the FA punish them to the full extent, but we must at the very least be fully informed and objective as to what they’re accused of.
Screaming “dirty cheating bastards waaahhhh punish them punish them take all their trophies away” isn’t going to solve anything.

Looked like he was going to Barca but then again they are skint so maybe the deal has dried up and we have smelt the opportunity.

We do have Lange and also if Kulusevski is from the same Swedish academy, maybe he can have a word.
Don't worry about Barca, they'll just sell the same old TV rights to the 156th new buyer.

Wasn't the evidence thrown out due to how it was acquired?

Why though? why take that risk?
Man, I do like you and how passionate you are about the club doing great, but we can't win all them battles. Actually feels like the powers that be can't win any sometimes...

We go in early doors, spend time and money (travel etc) for a player who's so set on Barca, we end up reading the likes of "should've splashed the cash you bald this & that". We go in late after it appears Barca can't finance the deal, it's "we shoulda gone earlier, missed the boat" etc.

Reality is, you win less transfers than you lose some. And there's a heck of a lot more involved than just money and timing, though important factors they sure are.

CAS said 'Uefa by no means filed frivolous charges against MCFC. As also acknowledged by MCFC, there was a legitimate basis to prosecute MCFC.”

UEFA had put in place rules that said there was a time limit for bringing cases under its own rules of 5 years. CAS dismissed many of the allegations as timed barred (ie not within the 5 years). Just maybe the ' CAS found City guilty of was for failing to co-operate fully with the UEFA investigation' which you commented might be the reason why .it took so long to bring the charges.

The CAS judgment recites, the AC found that ADUG had funded the payments, and that: “The management of [MCFC] was well aware that the payments … made by [a third party on behalf of ADUG] were made as equity funding, not as payments for the sponsor on account of genuine sponsorship liabilities.” The judgment notes that although City and Etisalat had agreed a sponsorship deal in principle in 2012, the actual contract was concluded only in January 2015, and was stated to be retrospectively effective, from 1 February 2012.

The CAS judgment also contains the extraordinary revelation that the panel’s chairman was recommended by City. The CAS judgement was given by a 2-1 majority.

You didn't ask for an itemized breakdown of the charges, so I didn't provide them and don't have time to do so.

But they're dirty cheating bastards and we all know it.
