Mourinho did a terrible job in Rome despite winning the cup that nobody want to be in. He also did a terrible job at Spurs. And he did a terrible job at United after his first season there. So he has been doing a terrible job overall since 2017. Why do they want him back??

I think his point was that Abramovich wiped the debt for them. Basically donated them 1.6B. And they still found a way to fuck it up. Quite an achievement really.

Yeh I think they are fucked. Poch is broken, their squad is a mess of mostly mediocrity and they have huge FFP issues with both Boehly short term and Abramovich long term.

Uhmmm, all the initial noise, both with aaaalllllllll the transfers and Potter, was "this is a (long term) project". It kept being peddled out through the media. We stick with Potter, trust the process and the project. Guess what? They didn't stick with Potter.

Then they hired a second project manager, and now their knees must surely be wobbling. With Poch and the project. Can they fire a second project manager, regardless of whether they can afford to, and sell it as a project to a third manager?

They are in an interesting, and for us funny, catch 22. Do they admit defeat and go with a steady pair of hands? Where, as you suggest, Jose seems the obvious connection, if not choice. If they do, it's kind of a reverse what we've done, with two - on paper - steady hands, before giving up the ghost and going with a long term project instead.

They need to offer Alonso £20m a year before Liverpool officially get to him.

Truly put the cat amongst the pigeons.

They hate Liverpool anyway. So should just do it for a laugh if nothing else.

And Poch can go to palace or west ham next. Maybe QPR. Doesn’t really matter.
