The criticism of him is justified. If he had not scored last night, he would've got a 4 in my ratings.
However, he got in the right position and used his pace to reach that pass. Brilliant run and contribution.
BUT.....you cannot say he should not be criticised for his performance last night.
He was terrible today when he came on. Lazy defensively and offered nothing going forward but still pops up with the typical Ange goal. More needed tif he ever wants to be a regular.

I’ve never said said he should not be criticised, nor that he played well. Some of the criticism is way over the top though, and some is justified. He’s not had an impressive start to his Spurs career but some people are acting like he’s a league one player.

No yet, but where he is now isn’t where he’ll be in a year or two’s time. We need players who can be subbed in and affect the game, so that works great for us at the moment. That wasn’t a simple tap in either.

His overall impact in games is frustrating but the guy is averaging 1 goal or assist in 3 games, a feat bettered only by Son, Richarlison and Maddison. He's contributing more than other players who aren't being dug out so much.
Yep I’ve rewatched the goal quite a few times and the passage of play leading to his goal is pretty sick. Madders’ ball through to Son is a peach.
He said in an interview after the goal that he didn’t do a huge celebration because he was tired, which I didn’t get as he hadn’t been on long. Maybe he’d had a cold or been sick this week.
Nunez would have skied that for definite!

Identical goals... but he's clearly got the anticipation and speed to get INTO those positions!
He's not just a tap in merchant... You have to know when to make that run, a) not to be offside (yes Werner, I'm looking at you) but also to get into a position where you make the finish itself relatively straightforward...
It's an underrated skill, and takes some doing!
It reminded me of that offside goal against Sheffield in his first game, running full pelt to get to the ball and kicking it up into the netHe hit it so hard and high for a second I thought he'd skied it

I think there is something there, as said he gets into these tap in places (and that is a skill)
but as others have said defending is awful, often late in joining in ( is that a tactic ? gives us an out ball ?, had to tell from TV), when he does join in he seems to just let the players do 1-2's and run past him
I'm not sure if we have coaches who can teach him and Werner to play the wing role
it must be cheaper to get in specialist coaches that can show these players how to play a certain role within a team

I think he needs to do much more when he hasn't got the ball and to think a little more which will enable him to get into space and affect the game more regularly.
