Stadium Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'm hoping that the powers-that-be leave well alone, Tottenham Hotspur stadium has a lovely ring to it, better than any sponsor, IMO.
Even if they took £20M per season and reduced ticket prices by 30% for u25’s? Become giveback FC and do some good for once. Been run like a low margin retailer for 25 years under mr Byrite aka Ashley 2.0, forcing every last £1 of the fans. Enough

When the stadium was bult there was a restriction on its use for non football l events with no more than 16 allowed per year, including a maximum of 6 music concerts pa.

In 2023 this was varied on a one-off basis, principally to allow 3 Beyonce concerts to be scheduled which would have otherwise broken the 6 concert cap.. Update on events being staged at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium | Haringey Council.

Independent studies have shown that the stadium events generate significant business/value added for the wider local community above and beyond revenues generated in the stadium for Spurs.

Spurs are in the process of applying to increase the number of non football events from 16 to 30 with public consultations commencing today.

Non footballing events held to date have included NFL, rugby union, rugby league, boxing and music concerts.

You make a valid point and yes, if that's where the money went. I'd stomach a sponsor.
Wasn’t trying to pick holes but I do think it could be an opportunity to get creative with what it’s used for

Another option could be a charity - not for profit or something for minimal fees

I’m not at all convinced we get direct financial benefit from keeping the Tottenham stadium name

I don't think there is any financial benefit either, but I'm no business woman, just a sentimental one.
I know it will happen one day, but the longer it takes, the better IMO.

Did you see the amount of South Koreans at the Wolves game. Literally hundreds all sat together
You can guarantee they will be spending in the club shop. If we had built that hotel they would be in there as well.
Only one problem . They tend to follow players , rather than clubs. Apparently there are 12m Spurs fans in S Korea. If and when Sonny leaves they will be off somewhere else.
We need to scout another S Korean, plus a Japanese player for good measure .
That’s why we don’t go to Orient any more. Mores the pity really but if we want top players we have to get the money from wherever we can.
Answer-We keep Sonny at the club!

A doubling of non-football events is potentially pretty significant isn't it?

The wording suggests that there isn't a limit on footballing events. So things like Euros and World Cup Games could be staged there as many times as required?

Certainly very significant to go up to 30 non footballing events, almost doubling the events.

A slight surprise to me as whilst so far its clear we could hold more than the 6 concerts a year, I'm not sure we've really tested the 16 non football events yet.

I've not been able to find on the Haringey Planning site the text of any proposal to increase events, so I'm guessing that Planners want to see the feedback from public consultations before it goes to a Planning Meeting with a formal proposal which would make it clear what events other than Spurs football are allowed - together with Planning Officers recommendations.

If it happens I’d like it that the club has to hold at least two community based events there a year (if there’s demand).

The financial results due out shortly should be interesting. Might get an idea what they are making in these events.
I believe the organisers pay a rent on the stadium and then take all ticket money. We get the food and drink, hospitality and stuff like that. £150 to stand ….!!!

Wasps rugby union are reforming and will be looking for a home.

Depends what you mean by a 'community event' and what benefit you would expect - if its a concert with a well known star, the ticket sales are usually going directly to the band. So question would be whether the band were prepared to appear with much lower ticket prices - the rental of the stadium to the band is only a couple of % of ticket saes so even waiving that would not really affect ticket prices.

In terms of other 'community' events Spurs hold a job fair one or twice a year which seem fairly successful, so seem open to doing general community events.

Last set of accounts suggest we made £30m revenue on non football events - there 's no information on the profits on these events.

Next set of accounts to June 2023 need to be published by 31 March (ie within weeks) as you probably know

I sit right next to the premium seats, where there were hundreds of South Korean fans. My only beef with them is that they applauded the Wolves player, sorry don't know his name, when we'd just lost the game.
I'm always surrounded by tourists, some genuine fans but a fair number are just there to say they've seen a PL game (just like I'd go and see a Broadway show if I went to New York).
