Match Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspur - Sunday 10th March

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Just caught up with MOTD2, Liverpool v City get a full 27 minutes, we get far less and McGinns assault on Udogie doesn't even warrant discussion. WTF, the media bias is real

I thought the motd2 coverage of us was decent for once. Murphy at one stage said,” I’m not even going to speak about Villa. Spurs play like that yesterday they’ll do most teams/teams won’t be able to live with them”.

What more do you want?

It looks to me like over the last 2 matches we are being a bit more patient in our build up and exerting a bit more control which is what I asked for. This has led to reducing the turnovers and the opposition not getting many attacks on our goal, if you've noticed over the last two matches Vicario hasn't been as busy as he previously was.

This is a good strategy against bus parkers because as we've seen over the last 2 games you can't keep up parking the bus and containing for 90 mins, you get tired chasing the ball and staying in shape, looks like we've found a way to counter that tactic.

I know I keep banging on about depth but it’s why it’s so important against bus parkers to have able fresh legs to kill the opposition as they grow tired. Pool, City and Arse do this a lot and the way we should be able to put Sarr or Bentancur on at 60 mins is important.

If in the summer we can built more depth we can better use this strategy.

All the doubts he had are fading quick and you can see that extra confidence in his eyes.

For good reason too. Every single game he’s in good positions to score or assist. The system is clicking in his head and the game is slowing down and getting easier. Field of vision wider as he relaxes as well, seeing the play before the play like the Werner assist after Sons movement
Agree mate. Matty Cash was shitting himself everytime BJ got the ball. You could see in BJ eyes that confidence of knowing you own someone.

I rate this as our best performance of the season. I hope /I'm sure big Ange is reflecting on what could be improved from this season and that we make big strides over the next 5 months. Dragu is one piece of the jigsaw, and potentially Werner now also. Others growing into the team, and that cohesion from playing a certain style for longer is coming through.

It was decent, although showed too many clearly offside Villa "chances". Watch the second half in real time, and the MoTD2 highlights and no question, the game was in fact more one-sided than the highlights suggest.

As someone else said, this match was a Postecoglou masterclass.

Emery is a top class manager-its not for nothing his team sits fourth and has scored at home in every game for 18 months. Yet Emery completely changed his system, resulting in his team being run ragged for the first half hour, found themselves 2-0 down in a 3 minutes blitzkreig , causing his captain and the heart beat of his team to lose his head and get sent off, and then found themselves down another two goals 3 minutes apart at the end. Postecoglou dismantled Emery's tactics.

I watched it this morning. I thought they were showing the first half in the wrong light, Villa barely touched the ball and were thoroughly outplayed.
But then I figured it's a highlights program, and they were probably struggling to show any highlights when nobody really had a sniff. Villa players being offside when through was about as close as anyone got to a chance.

This is bugging me now.
Sky Sports have not only dropped "man of the match" in the men's game, they're now saying this in their headlines.

If we can't have man of the match and "10 man Villa" in the mens game, then I want the WSL re-named PSL and all reference to woman, women, girls, ladies removed now.

This is ridiculous.
Yeah, and with the next breath they will bang on endlessly about how unfair and dangerous the trans infiltration of the should-be safe space of women's sport is (I agree trans shouldn't be there fwiw).

Let's have men of the match, women of the match and, if you must, trans of the match.

This is the game we would have had with a full team at the lane.

McGinn now suspended for Spam away, Wolves at home and City away.

So not only did we close the gap, swing an 8 goal negative into a +2 positive we also got their captain suspended for a run of 3 tricky fixtures.

We need to not be Spursy now and beat Fulham, Luton and West Ham in that same period.

Its not incredible when you were irrationally scared of them on Friday . I said we would beat them. Did you actually watch the win the 'mighty ' Villa pulled at the Lane? We were playing them with Royal Davis Hojbjerg and the lesser spotted Bryan Gill. Half our team was in Africa and the Skipper was in Asia. They still got battered and fluked a one goal win. It was such a heist Thomas Crown was impressed. I could not understand the terror some held of them.
...moi? I'm sure I said 3-1 to us on Friday...

Unless a player has outwardly declared themself as not a man, then it's man of the match and 10-man etc.
Not having it, won't support it and would like to speak out against it.

That male "trans" swimmer is a fucking disgrace. It's as absurd as Randy Savage competing in female power lifting in Southpark and that's a joke!

I quite like McGinn as a player, but he badly let his club down yesterday. Should apologise to fans tbh
