Mbappe says hello. They have been after him for years. They no longer have ultimate buying power They had to wait out the Nija Turtels contract and would have too for Romero. That means we have him for two and a half more seasons minimum, by which time we will have knocked them out of the ECL on our way to winning it. Bothered not bothered 😕.
Mbappe will most likely end up at Real M this summer anyway, so they will get him in the end - and they pay less salary than he's getting at PSG.

Some rumours flying about Romero to Real Madrid. If they come knocking, I'm sure he will be tempted. Who wouldn't be?

They need to pay a hell of a lot of money to pry him off or hands that's for sure. But if it happens, who will we replace him with.

Tapsoba? How has his season been? Can he play in the right?

What was the name of that defender in the French League, with a doubtful attitude, used to belong to Barcelona. How has hise season been?

Who else might be considered?

25 years old, not even at his peak with 3 years still to run. It would cost them an absolute fortune. 100 mill at least. Dont see that happening
be a great signing for them though to be fair

If Real M. wants a player they'll get him almost no matter the fee (but I am not saying Romero is their target).

If it isn't simply rumour mill bollocks, then I guess we wait to see Romero's reaction, etc. I don't think it's a move you can block too easily if the player gets his heart set on it, and fortunately we know Levy would extract an eye watering amount if we got into negotiations.

Hopefully he wants to stay. He's really grown into that leadership role and he might well be a first choice for captain after Son (maybe Maddison instead, but who knows). If we sold for a shite ton of money then I actually have faith in our recruitment to spend the money well.

It's probably a win-win.

Real will get their newspaper and everybody else to completely unsettle a player, they ha e done it to us before.

Since then:

"Madrid are going to steal Kane"
"Madrid are going to steal Dele"
"Madrid are going to steal Poch"
"Madrid are going to steal Eriksen"
"Barca are going to steal Vert"
"Man City are going to steal Kane"
"Madrid are going to steal Conte"
"Barca are going to steal Ndombele"
>>> We wish!
"Madrid are going to steal Reg" >>> We wish!

..............How about we just keep our knickers dry and cross that bridge IF we come to it?

you def go to BL and offer dizzying money for Tapsoba. In fact it will be quite interesting to see how he gets on at the London stadium now against prem opposition

I’m not sure you are cut out for the Internet.

I think this is true as we are now pretty much assured of CL or EL placing and need a decent sized squad of quality players for either.

But that does not mean we need to or will spend 100m (or even close) on any one player. Reason very simply is we need to recruit say 5 good players, and cannot do that if we splurge 100m on one

Also makes sense when you consider the groundwork we've put into previous transfers (often following a player for a year or more before the move actually materialises). We'll have a shortlist already and it'd be odd to suddenly bin that due to CL qualification.

Of course, what may also be true is that our chances of securing the top of the shortlist(s) goes up if CL is in the bag.

:ange-hmm:

Osimhen is about as close as you can get to guaranteed goals. If there is any chance then we need to be pushing the boat out.
