How Dry should our Powder be?

We need 2 wide players that can keep the ball and offer a consistent threat. We need a striker that can bring others into the game who can play with his back to goal. We have straight line front men who can’t come in and link play and create, shoot, make a chance for themselves consistently. It breaks down far too much. Johnson runs in straight lines and is an utter hit and miss. Deki just barges through games and is a hit and miss. Sonny’s main attribute is running onto things and struggles with his back to goal and is an utter hit and miss and fuck all this stat pish. After watching tonight I can’t even entertain all that.
These guys have excellent ability but if it’s not seen consistently then we stand still. We can’t just accept that it’s good one week shit the next.

Think the midfield is suspect, bissouma too passive and defensively weak. Also if Madison is off form there's nothin to replace him with. Sarr should have good comp in bervall.
Not sure were bentancur fits into a ultra high intensity team, probably why there's a want for Gallagher but meh.

LCB as dragusin didn't look much comfortable on that side.
And yes a couple attackers needed

But midfield is the engine that gets this whole system working, maddison, bissouma and sarr were just overwhelming in their energy and ability those first couple months. Now they're quite inconsistent , and often lackluster
Agree the middle is the engine and today was another example where it misfired, only today they all misfired. Also agree that Biss is not the answer, Biss from first 8-10 games was, but not seen anywhere near often enough, defensively suspect and going forward doesnt contribute in goals or assists anywhere near enough. A pre injury Bents would be great, Sarr has time on his side and done more than enough to prove his worth. Madders form is really poor since his return from injury, but he went through many lean spells at Leicester as well. Would be my first point of investment, along with a pacy goal scoring/creative wing forward

Richard Arlison Richard Arlison was it you asked where I heard Sarr and Maddison had issues? Can't recall, if it was it was one of the football London bods Can't remember if it was Gold or the Brummie one. Back issue for a bit with Sarr, if you look at the Uncut video of the last game He's clearly struggling at one point. The Maddison thing is worryingly still ankle. 😔

The players have played well recently. Unfortunately they all had a collective dreadful match yesterday (incl. Ange)

Let’s hope that they learn from that and move on.

Paulinha got booked for another hack on Maddison's ankle as well. I'd be surprised if he's fit for the next game.

Maddison is a fantastic player and really makes us tick when he's fit and at it. I'm not sure that's ever going to be for enough games in a season for us to win things. People can say what they like about Kulusevski but he's built for Premier League football and learned that ability from Kane to just always be available. Hojberg learned it as well. Question is can Maddison learn to manage his body as well.

LW, ST, RW.

Anything less and we might as well not even turn up next season.

I'd have it as LW, RW and 6 as the key targets.

Vicario
Porro - Romero - VDV - Udogie
Sarr - New 6- Maddison
New RW - Son - New LW
That gives you a bench of Dragusin, Bissouma, Bentancur, Bergvall, Kulusevski, Johnson.. Which is strong.

So some depth for left back, right back and up front would be nice too. But those three positions are key.

I still think we need to give Bentacur the rest of the season. He still doesn’t look 100%. I remember him pre-WC running around, chasing every ball, making amazing runs, getting the odd goal and setting up the assist to the assist. At that time he was on the verge of being an extremely good midfielder, he was already very good. I think to dismiss him would be a mistake.

Bissouma on the other hand has been a flash in the pan but I haven’t seen any level of consistency. Bentacur showed that consistency. I agree with having Sarr in there.

LW/RW are the two problem areas. They’re just not providing anything to the team right now which is why our midfield is having to pick up the slack. Some games (or most games) it feels like we’re playing with 9 men.

We should be looking for a long term striker though aswell.

Priority simply has to be on the wings. We desperately need two fast, direct, brave, wide men who can create and threaten the opposition.

The ones we have right now just aren't dangerous or good enough quite frankly.

It's becoming apparent a top 6 need is key.

But we're stockpiling CMs so need a few sales. Gio, PEH and Skipp being the obvious ones.

No chance we get two starting wingers in the same summer.

Also would need forwards sold. Probably Richy, Solomon and Gil and not buying Werner.

If we improve our winger/wingers we need a centre forward and goal scorer in the box. Son is not that, sorry to say.Richarlison is more suited to that role but we can do better. Osimhen is the best choice but getting him would be too costly and he has an attitude problem. For me it would be either Vlahovic or Lautaro Martinez.

I was looking at Muniz yesterday and thought we need to add a CF that is just positive and strong, puts a shift with a smile on his face and enjoys his football. Richy is a rollercoaster of emotions, too up and down in his moods, form and fitness.
If we add one top quality attacking winger I'll be happy. That should leave Son, Kulusevsky and Johnson fighting for one other starting spot most days.
In midfield I am hoping on improving form of current players so just cosmetic changes. Add young Bergvall, replace any of or all: Lo Celso, Hojbjerg and Skippy with fresher and more suited to our style squad options.
In defence add a body as 4th choice CB and really we could just look for similar quality that Royal and Davies are but more suited to our style. We may as well keep both for the time being as they offer a bit of versatility in emergency situations.

We as fans need to stop over rating our players and creating untouchables. Someone mentioned Porro, good example. Had a pretty good season but he's not been amazing and shouldn't be untouchable.

The sort of mentality that says all we need is a couple of backups and one or two for the first team lets Levy off the hook when he signs Werner on a permanent and a couple of reserve ballboys, winning another window but not a trophy.

I think most of us expected the squad to require this summer window as well as Ange's first one. There needs to be 4 or 5 first team options who can both improve the first team and compete with our better performers.
