Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Play attacking high line football.. & getting mediocre result = the end of Ange

Play mediocre football & winning all the time = . . . .?

You can play high-line, front foot football and be successful. Liverpool and City both do this. They’re just better at controlling tempo and their defensive organisation is better.

The hope is that this comes with Ange. Making us press high and commit numbers is the easiest step. It’s what Klopp and Pep did first, they achieved exciting, attacking sides and then those teams started becoming better at control and more well-rounded. Then they won.

Agree.

This is a world different to the shit Conte used to say.

Now the club need to back him.

Tbf to Conte, he allegedly did this. But in public he was definitely saying it was a miracle and how amazing it was pretty regularly. Whether or not the pulling the team aside was true I don’t know. If he did, it was the right thing.

We really need to get away from celebrating top 4. I don’t want to see celebrations if we get it this season either. It’s a nice thing to tick off but isn’t a trophy. Ange says a lot of the right things and I hope that translates to the players not treating top four like fucking silverware.

The manager has said he has no target of CL football so there might be a conflict of ambition between him and the players. I would hope the players aspire to reach the CL.

That's a mis-representation. He said he doesn't want to *just* qualify for Champions League football. He wants to be challenging to win it. Yes you first gotta be in it to win it, but being in it is not the end goal. Winning it is.

Of course he can't go out publically and say it directly, but there is a message there to the owners: give me the tools to win the Champions League, not just compete in it.

No over reaction from me. I called it right from the start. We had Celtic and Oz bus hoppers telling us how good he was in lower level football.....that's no qualification for the PL .

Maurinho and Conte who had those qualifications achieved what?

It was always going to be the case that there would people who would have written the guy off before he even started for exactly that and then just waited for the chance to say "i told you so"-they had to wait 28 PL games for that...

Look at that table above. Postecoglou has one win less than Guardiola at the same stage in their first year. Would you have taken that at the start of the season?

Or would only Guardiola have done, or perhaps Ten Hag, because they're the only two who have a one PL win advantage over Postecoglou?

Or do you hold Postcoglou to higher standard than the most succcesful manager of their generation?

Sorry mate but, the suggestion of a title challenge is laughable, you have noted glaring deficiencies within the team, that won't get sorted by next season, nor will the flimsy mentality of the players.

Im not sure sure. Klopp leaving liverpool and the rumour of Pep leaving City could suggest that Woolwich, Spurs, Chelsea and United will be back in the hunt.

We have seen the team play well. Madisson hasn't refound his form after injury and Bissouma hasnt bossed the midfield like we thought he would.

I've not doubt that we will see big investment in the squad this summer, which will hopefully see us sign a top striker and central box to box midfielder.

It's not losing away to Fulham that bothers me that much - that's only our 3rd away defeat of the season (Brighton & Wolves).
City have lost 3 away (Woolwich, Villa, Wolves), Woolwich lost 3 away (Newcastle, Villa, Fulham), and Liverpool 2 away defeats (Spurs & Woolwich).
Winning away is hard. The best away wins Woolwich have are against Brentford and Palace..

It's losing 4 home games against Wolves, Villa, Chelsea & West Ham that bug me far more.
The top 3 have 1 home defeat between them (Woolwich hosting West Ham). Our home form is where I would target a need for improvement. We get 4-5 points from those 4 games and we're right up in the mix with the top 3 even with a defeat at Fulham.

We didn't come out well in the 2nd half and conceded within 5 minutes of the restart to what I think was a very fortunate goal. It wasn't a good performance but 3-0 certainly flattered them.

Those losses stick in my craw. I think he has to to wear the blame. Postecoglou is never one for being pragmatic and that's what you get with him. A bit of pragmatism and as you say could be fighting top for 3.

When the intent of Ange is to attack and score every match right from the start but we couldn't, I'm sure the players have a lot to answer for instead of the approach not being pragmatic. How about stop being sloppy in the middle and more decisive in the final third. The lads are obviously holding back the intensity, just don't get me to provide the names of the guilty.

TBH, not sure if the hamstring injuries are striking some fear into the players.

Yes I could see the Hamstring injuries could be a worry to some players
If we have players out there not doing it or pulling their weight then its up to the manager to bring them off. and that is one of my concerns with him, he like us can see players that are not "on it that day" ( and that can happen to any player) not wait until 60 or 75 mins,

The irresistible force vs the immovable object, Ange vs ENIC - let the battle commence 😆

Only one winner. Ange is extremely movable.
All our managers end up getting one of these.

its a bump in an ever upward trajectory, 3rd away defeat in a season of change. Young side will be consistently inconsistent, imagine how boring it would be to win every game - on a completely related point, I once dated a city fan, lets just say starfish was her only position,

Is Ethan Hunt behind that face?

Let’s be honest. The squad is simply not good enough. We have no adequate cover at GK, RB, LB, LCB , striker and we need upgrades at DM and RW . So 7 new signings needed. How many will he get ?

We need to get top four first, the team is doing the usual thing of avoiding achieving anything.
But yes, top four isn't anything to celebrate, it's just fourth spot in the league, celebrate if you win the league not anything else.

We don't know the extent of the summer investment yet.
I don't know what, many of us are expecting, but I don't think it will be much other than the usual level of investment.
Probably 4 or 5 to come in, with 5 or 6 going out.

I think we all need to take into consideration that this has been a total freak season!

The amount of long term injury's has been out of this world. And to key players also. And the suspensions on top of that. It's us and the Magpies that's been hit enormously by injury's to key players.

I mean we lost our 4 best players(Romero, Van de Ven, Madders, Udogie) in the same game, two long term, and two to suspensions.

Taking all that into account, it's a bloody miracle we are still in a shout of top 4!!

Yes we are out of form, even with key players back. But that was expected with the amount of long term injury's we've had.

I know i'm one of those that moans during games. But it's because i want us to win every game and succeed. I guess it's some sort of ventilation of frustration.

I really think we need to strengthen in defensive midfield next season. Think we need to get 1-2 guys in that's smarter than Bissouma!

COYS!
