Really good posts from you mate them last few pages, some very valid points you make and I'm defo with you that Ange needs to be given more time. I do want him to succeed and I do believe he's got it in him.

That said, I just think he - like any other HC we've had under ENIC/Levy - will eventually down tools after being let down/betrayed one too many times by his bosses AND the players.

As much I love him as a bloke and his footy philosophy, I just think that if elite managers like Jose & Conte couldn't turn things around at Spurs, then there's little chance the big Ozzy could.

To be honest, I don't even think a Pep or Klopp could come to us and change the culture. It's just too ingrained and as long as Levy is here, I have little hope it'll get any better.

Appreciate it mate

Unfortunately, we have the same fear. But I’m working on the basis that what Ange needs is less than what Jose and Conte need.

I could be wrong but I’m ok with seeing it out to find out. Not least because blaming and sacking another manager is just too easy for them to pass the buck again.

He needs to close out the season with wins against Burnely and Sheffield then reflect seriously on what's required to deliver his football in the PL.

We have had so much time on the training pitch yet the football is getting worse, clearly there need to be changes in the coaching staff as well as the playing staff. We need to bring a set piece coach and an experienced PL assistant coach to help Davies, Mason and Jedinak because they clearly can't translate Ange's ideas effectively on their own.
This is true, no European football this year, and out of the cups early again.
There has been enough time to, get his ideas across and have them set up better than what we are seeing.

Repeating the same experiment and expecting different results is madness. I don’t know really what you all expect to happen except as you say hoping for a miracle.

But repeating the experiment of sacking a manager, blaming it all on him, appointing a new one claiming he's the messiah...then sacking him after xx months and back to square one...that's sensible?

Seems to me we've been doing just that for nearly TWENTY FIVE friggin years and yeah it's obviously worked such a treat...

Rubbish. The guy needs to be given the summer and then up to Christmas.

Only way that is threatened is 9f Burnley and/or Sheff Utd put us to tje sword. At that point hmmmmm....
I'm really not sure beating Burnley and/or Sheff Utd tells us much. Mason won games like that. The last few were the time to make a statement and we've been humiliated. Today really could have been a 6 or 7 shellacking if they hadnt eased up.

I hope we can turn it around too because I really don’t want to lose this core of players we have (mostly VdV, Romero, Udogie, Porro, Sarr, Vicario). But I don’t want to hang on so long that happens too.

Good luck with your hoping and we’ll just have to see how it all plays out.

Because that kind of football wins you titles. City or Liverpool for example while different from each other both play high press, high risk, high reward football.

However they have many years of doing it, they have players bought that can do it. With a high press the defence is the attack and the midfield pressing in behind. We lack some of the players plus it takes upto 2 years to get right even with the right players. Additionally we lack forwards who are press resistant and good at linking.

Burley in the Championship where in a mess, Kompany came in, they didn’t have the best team yet they won that league by a mile. They couldn’t make a championship squad do that kind of football in the prem, the quality gap was to much.

My point is that style of football has the biggest ceiling, it is just the hardest to make work and takes time, patience and money. We don’t need a City level squad to fight with them but something not far of Arse’s team would do and the time to make it work.
This, my friends, is a thread-winning kinda post.

it’s not the same experiment with different managers

Mate, we tend to agree on our view....I think.

Statenent - never possible. I am.too hungry to dissect but that's unrealistic.

It's been disappointing but I knew we would lose all the 3 games.

We need 6 points and the summer..

The players lost their nerve with that Fulham game after getting high on their own farts when we beat Villa. The pressure was applied and they bottled it.

Let's just finish 5th, clear our heads and attack next season properly.

We're currently level on points with where we finished last season. We're SO bad right now I could see us losing all our remaining games.
If that happened we will have accumulated the same points, conceded more goals and potentially scored less too.

The only difference between this and last season is Newcastle, Brighton and United all being worse. 2 of them have a good excuse too.

Good managers adjust their tactics as necessary to beat the next team they have to play. Then they do it again the next week.

Even Real Madrid had to play on the counter to squeak by City.

For Ange to think he is somehow exceptional to this is madness.
Real Madrid are the biggest club in the world...and have been for donkeys' years.

They have one of the all-time greats at the helm. Carlo has seen it all.

Their squad is full of A-listers. Players with incredible footy IQ, tekkers, stamina. Players who've been used to "win every game or get fucked" since the first day they donned the legendary all-white kit.

Money is zero issue...and they have a chairman who understands that a football club is there to win football matches. And competitions. Lots of them. Before anything else. And he does what needs to be done to get there.

Real Madrid is a culture in itself. You could pretty much say the same about Liverpool, City since Abu Dhabi, Utd pre Glazers, Juve, Milan x 2, Bayern...

Blaming our shocking form and season all (or most of it) on Ange is just lazy and so not doing the club a solid.

Fucking bingo

And thank you. We should pin this post to the top of the forum to remind people what we are trying to achieve here.

I mean we’ve seen calls for Poch and Tuchel ffs. Can’t people use their memories?

We got figured out in the Fulham game, and now everyone knows the template we're stuffed. It's that easy. The rest of the league have a cheat code that renders Flangeball utterly useless.

You say all this stuff about RM and then make a completely unrelated point- unless it’s that we aren’t RM. My point was that every club, no matter how many resources they have, have to play different tactics sometimes, or they lose.

I’d rather Ange leave than throw all the players under the bus. I think hiring managers who do that is inherently part of our problem.

I don’t think it I know it.

Tactics are dependent entirely on personnel. You can be as genuis as you like with your master plan to counter act any tactics but if you don’t have the personnel or your players aren’t in form it won’t do shit.

Same thing goes for Ange’s system right now. It needs recruitment in several key positions to work as a squad.
ok yeh i agree with that but that's pretty bog standard and self explainitory.

If teams like Stoke who were in the league for a long time adopting long ball/direct tactics suddenly decided to play another tactic (say Anges high line and passing from the back). You think they would have had anywhere near the 'success' they had? they would have had exactly the same set of players and would have undoubtedly got relegated much sooner.

Tactics are fucking crititical and its odd you downplay them the way you do.
