It also benefitted them during the time they had him on loan. Then the player decided he liked it there and wanted to stay.

That could easily happen with Simons.

Surely though if that were the case then we'd just negotiate a loan with obligation or option.

There's generally a reason why it's a loan, either the club want him back for whatever reason or the player has eyes on going elsewhere.

And what's more if he does play well his price will increase anyway which will price us out the market even more so than this Summer.

Alright, but that's not "up" though, it's dwindling, "up" generally means finished which it isn't (sadly).

Realistically too, the club is going to want something like £10m still, I'd happily see the back of him for a packet of crisps and some training cones but the club will see it differently.
He will be here for another season in that case, stinking the place out. Yay

We should only consider loans if there is an option or obligation to buy.

We shouldn't be in the business of developing other players' clubs for them... especially when we have youngsters of our own who could do with Europa League minutes this season.
Yes and no.
The exception to this rule is if the player in question fulfills an immediate need and is better than any other available.

Not watched enough Simons to be able to comment. But if the hype is to be believed and he’s miles ahead of any other option then I don’t see how having him for a season does anything but benefit us.
Now if you’re saying, loan him with no obligation or sign Olise for £60m then I’d obviously pump for the latter option.

Which is my point :)

And Utd obviously aren't a small club but their transfer strategy is in the pits, trying to cover shortfalls all the time so they're not the best example anyway.

Anyway Ximons on loan is a shit idea.
Yes.

United are a mess.
Loans have a place, but aren't going to push a big club forwards in most cases.

And Tevez didn't retire until 2021 😂

(I have no idea about Ximons/Simons)

How can we be priced out by anyone?

Frugal right cunt has brainwashed you. Quarter of a bill in the bank, highest ticket prices in the world, an ever increasing top line, and financial fair play headroom x5 our peers

Are you not fatigued of your mates ripping the fuck out of you? Oh wait

Xavi Simons is an interesting one as PSG sold him once already, he had a good season then they bought him back cheap, then immediately loaned him out again instead of trying to integrate him

I wonder if it's an exercise in just extracting massive amounts of money on one of their academy products

a loan may not be a terrible option as i feel they're open to selling him for big money

When I’ve watched him I really liked what I saw.

Him and De Kaetelaere both have something about them that I think we miss in terms of tekkers and combination play with teammates.

Jaynola Jaynola says he’s not that clinical finishing. What’s his record like this season?

I’d guess he’s a better finisher than a Sesko at this stage

Edit: 11 goals 5 assists in 34 games this year. Never really had a prolific season…

Probably a pass even if he’s only 22
I do like that kid and I would sign him, I just wouldn't do it expecting he'd (ever) score 20 ish a season.

Do you know what kind of clubs sign players on loan deals?

Small clubs.

Some clubs who loaned players this season:

EPL:
Spurs
Villa (finished above us)
Man U (bigger club)
Arse (finished above us)
NuCastle (richest club in the world)

Germany:
Leverkusen (league winners)
BVB (CL finalists... Also regular holders of the "Spurs should so it like them" trophy)
Bayern Munich (bigger club)
RB Liebzig (another so-called talent development hotbed)
Stuttgart (finsihed 3rd this season)

Spain:
Barcelona
Real Madrid
Athletico
(....i.e. The big 3.)

Italy:
Roma
Inter
Lazio
Napoli
Juve
AC
Atalanta
(....i.e. All their biggest clubs)

Basically the vast majority of Europe's biggest clubs..... The only non-doped/cheat cunts not on this list are Liverpool.

Loans are almost always just a vehicle for offsetting and delaying financial payments.

The ‘small team’ point is where you agree to a loan without an option, because you’re just developing someone else’s asset. But that’s rare these days.

Been done, didn't mean small clubs but anyway...

I appreciate it’s not Levy’s modus operandi but wouldn’t be adverse to signing an older attacker. Particularly thinking of Toney if available for £30-40m or this Guirassy if he’s available for a steal and it means we can utilise funds for elite level winger or 6. We don’t need a striker for the next 5-7 years, however great that sounds, but really one who can give us 2 decent years in the hope that one of Veliz, Parrott, Scarlett, Donley, Lankshear or even this Feeney makes the breakthrough. Or whichever teenage striking prodigy we sign in that period.

I agree with where you're coming from; not so much based on age, but we need players for the now....... Buying more developing players at ST will just make a mockery of the long list we already have.

New #1 needed and let them fight off Richy and the impending pack.
