Regardless of whether people rate him or not, Gallagher is definitely an upgrade on Sarr.

Yes, he is an upgrade.

But also 3 years older and more experienced.
I do believe that in few years time they could be roughly equal, if Sarr not better.

And then there is question - is that upgrade worth 50 mil fee + high salaries ?!
I have little doubt Gallagher would want 120 kpw minimal. Sarr is on 70 kpw. So roughly speaking, across 3 years we have paid 60 mil more for temporary upgrade.

I'd really look elsewhere, unless there is some bigger plan here (converting Gallagher to starting #6 for example).

I agree but Sarr definitely has the potential to be as good as him if not better.
We can't just keep relying on potential though. It's one of the reasons we're always a few players short and players like Harry Kane finish up wanting out. We should always be looking for players that immediately improve what we already have. And Sarr would become a better player himself if he had to work hard for his place in the team.

It is a bit of a weird article. This is the pertinent bit of it:

Ito has 17 caps and his release clause is believed to be between £21.5million and £25m.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou boasts a good knowledge of the Japanese market having bossed Yokohama F Marinos between 2018-2021 and wants another centre-back this summer.

But SunSport understands the North Londoners will prioritise other positions, like a striker.

Not suggesting it happens for a second but...

Option 1
Isak
Eze
Gallagher
Geertruida
Murillo

Would that transfer window make us title contenders?

Option 2
Gyokeres
Doue
Gallagher
Doue 2
Murillo

What does that transfer window make next season look like?

I'm a little bit torn over Gallagher. I think we should be aiming higher. God knows we can afford to.

But I do see him as an improvement on what we have.

Could be a bit of a bellwether with regards to the Ange / Levy dynamic. A lot of his most passionate supporters have been trying to convince us he badly wants Gallagher. Well, he's seemingly there for the taking. 🤷‍♂️

Notice how after the Werner signing it used to be Werner plus a winger and a striker?

Now we start to hear it's a winger OR a striker?

Remember that some on here spotted straight away that there is no chance we were signing 2 more forwards after Werner and that's why it was the most ENIC Hotspur move ever?

I don't know tbh.

For what he does, there aren't many that you can be sure will be better. And Ange clearly wants him for what he does.

Not saying there aren't better CMs but the type of player he is, there isn't much better out there.

only seen him play a few times so not enough to judge but a CB that can play LB is exactly the type of CB we should be targetting (providing Romero stays).

We are not getting g a back up LB and RB so get a CB on that is comfortable on the left and focus on the back up rb (although activating the 6m clause on Cirkin should also be considered).
