How Dry should our Powder be?

I agree mate.

We will likely need to have some blind faith as fans with some of the signings because they will be from left field.

Personally enjoy that tbh and hopefully they get them right. BUT at the same time, we need a striker and those don’t usually come from nowhere and I’m honestly dreading the fact that we need to find a special forward player within the bounds of Levynomics and unfortunately a special forward is what we need to get anywhere closer to the teams challenging to win the Prem.
How has Parrott been?

I know he's weighed in with quite a few goals over there, but is he ready to step up and share time up front with Richarlison?

From what I've read on here, he's done as well, if not better (considering the team he's been playing in), than Gimenez, so is he ready for Prem Football yet?

No clue tbh mate.

I think there are a few of us that would be ok seeing what he has if we tried him as an option but most would be disappointed if he came in as the premium striker target. This is where the concerns with Gimenez have some merit. If he comes in as the 40m main striker signing, is he really that much better than Richy or even Parrott?

The guy at Stuttgart Guirassy is where I'd be looking if I wasn't certain about Gimenez or Parrott. His release clause is low so less risk and would leave resources to get a special forward player and another high conviction level player in CM.

50 million for an England International and proven Premier League footballer who is still a good few years away from his peak isn't a lot of money in today's market. Even more so when you consider we paid nearly 50 million for a raw Brennan Johnson based on potential.
Yes but both deals are underwhelming. What I meant is Wharton at £20M could be ahead of Gallagher in the England midfield. He would defo improve our midfield ahead of skipp, PEH etc.

He’s fulfilling that potential now (BJ), run Gibraltar ragged last night and helped secure a 0-0
Lol ffs his 23 not 18 and at £50M for someone with his playing experience already it should be more than potential. If Wharton is starting for palace and England at 20 with just a few months PL experience then what exscuse does Johnson have! This is the thing a lot of fans make up anything to justify a signing when the evidence is generally the opposite. Same with the Werner fan boys justifying the loan signing for any reason other than what’s best for the team/squad.

What makes you say that? Ange threw in Sarr and Destiny despite lack of exp. And Bissouma despite lack of game time. Or is it just an opportunity to moan at the gaffer?
Bcos his come from the champo and the lack of playing time afforded to our own academy youngsters. May he would have who knows. Anyway we missed out as usual. We will go in for him in 3 years time at £100M. Surely investing £20M in Wharton as a hg player would have been better than say a Timo whose gonna cost approx £15M for the 18 months we will have had him.

[Decent track record of stating the bloody obvious? There's no news there. ]

To be honest, I'm not completely blown away by Eze, he's obviously got some moves, but is he 60m worth? I don't really see it, but will be very happy to be shown up.

I just want a taller, stronger, left-footed attacking version of Porro who can beat men and whip in a decent cross. But I can't think of one...

Can Udogie work on his crossing?
Didn’t we pay almost £50M for Johnson for his potential and £60M for richi? Well over priced for both!

I was joking you fool. They failed to score. Vs fucking Gibraltar (population of 50k which is less than the N17 postcode)

Most of the links out there right now are to players we've been linked to in prior windows.

Tells me the media has no idea what's going on.

As much as it sucks for us, I like that Spurs seemed to have got rid of the leaks.

Agreed. Less chance of deals falling apart that way too. I remember the Sonny signing coming out of left field so suddenly that Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports News fame was poo-pooing it right up until the last moment.

Think most on here agree.

I posted Gyokeres and Doue or Gimenez/Toney and Eze.

The only people that replied wanted Gyokeres and Doue
Think our striker will be that Gudmundsson. They'll work out a kinda part exchange deal with Genoa where we get him for less than the 30-40 mil bandied about previously and they get Spence for reasonable dosh. I just feel it's written, honestly can't see us go get a Gyokeres, let alone Isak.

Eze we'll probably do, for a ridiculous amount of money just to keep the fanbase happy with at least one big deal. But if it's my cash, no way I'm spending 60 mil on the kid...and I do like him.

Other needs will be covered a la Werner or via loans with options.

As much as I wanna be wrong, I just don't see Levy do what he's never done in nearly 25 years. Danny Kelly said as much on LWOS...Woolwich needed a 6? They went and spent 100 mil on Rice. Liverpool needed a goalie and CB? Boom, Alisson the most expensive GK and Van Dijk the most expensive defender. When Harry needed backing? He got Saha and Nelsen. Poch? 18 months without a signing (still can't believe that happened) then got utter dross. Jose & Joe Rodon. Conte and Djed. You get the gist.

We sold the best striker in the world for 100M and replaced him with no-one.

Hated the idea of Gallagher previously but now I think if we don't get him he can end up being a quality engine sort of player for one of our rivals for a decade to come... if we can snap him for 35-40mil then we're fucking Chelsea over by stealing him at least as much as helping them with FFP.
Not a deal I'd be furious with anymore
