Not much but a mate of mine knows one of the sports scientists employed at the FA. He works mostly for the national teams but also freelances to other London clubs like Brentford.

Mate asked him about Toney for Spurs and he said we wouldn’t want him, acts like queen bee where he is and has a lot of ‘ friends’ that also believe they are of a higher social standing. He couldn’t see how that attitude would fit into our managers ethos for players

By the way, Santi Gimenez started for MX in their match vs Brazil last night. He was very active in the press, winning back a couple nice balls. Mexico generally were outplayed while he was on the pitch though and he didn't see much of the ball in open play. Other than his athletic pressing I didn't really see anything out of him that would indicate he'd be effective in the Premier league. He didn't seem to be anything special in the air.
A bit like Kane v Iceland then.

Good info B O although I don't get the friends bit

Yep to both. We wouldnt have gone near him at £60/£70m but at £40m with Brentford over a barrell, plus homegrown it appears to have all the hallmarks of a classic opportunistic signing.
I honestly think he’d do well for us. He creates chances in tight spaces for others and has got that bit of class to make something out of nothing. With the way teams will set up against us I think we need more of that. He can take us up the pitch because he can hold the ball in and brings others into play with clever touches with his feet, chest and head. He’s an old school centre forward.
He’s not my first choice but I’d rather see him than Richy or Sonny up top. And the opposition would prefer to play against the other two than him because Toney will leave one on an opponent physically.
If we could get a Sesko,Gyokeres or Vlahovic then it’s a no brainer but I’d have Toney over Giminez or Solanke all day long.
Fuck the age thing,he’s 28 but got years left in as he doesn’t rely on pace even though he’s very mobile.

Some people are going to wait forever for the perfect striker. If Toney signs for the scum, we would all be pissed off that they are going to get even stronger next season. Yet some people think we are too good for him. Ffs.

I don't like Toney as a person. But if he's here, he will be our knob. So if we can get him, I want him. And I trust Ange.

For the love of god, why are we not trying to sign Palinha from Fulham ?!?

This guy oozes class. He is strong, intelligent and technically very good player. He'd walk straight into our midfield. Currently by the looks of it, Bayern is lowballing with 30-40 mil offers. Just pay 50 mil for him and forget all that crap about Callagher. Then move on to signing attacking reinforcements.

I mean we did manage to convince Dragusin to join us over Bayern and also got Bergvall instead of him going to Barcelona. So we should at least try to get Palinha as well! Might not happen, but worth a shot for sure.

40m and 200k pw for a 28 year old with several red flags?

I’m really not seeing us getting involved.

That guy Marmoush who none of us have a clue about? Something like that is what I’m expecting tbh

He pretty much decided on Bayern last summer, he was in minich ready to sifn. it was Hoj deal that scuppered it. Can't imagine we could change his mind

Agree in that i prefer him to Solanke or Giminez. Still think we should be going for 1 of the other 3 you mention though.

Let's be real the fans don't really know what they want this Summer and we're all ready to meltdown regardless of who comes in. This fanbase though historically reacted to foreign players who are unknowns because they have a little bit of mystique about them hence why fans fell in love with players like Soldado and kept lauding him even though he was stinking out the place and Jansen was given so much grace despite the fact he was complete ass.

For example some of our fans want Giminez but at the same time will tell you Troy Parrot isn't good enough.

It's the perception of the sexy foreigner that fans relate to as opposed to your run of the mill homegrown English striker, we see Toney's a lot more than other strikers abroad as well so we see more of his deficiencies as a player so speak on the thing he can't do as opposed to the things he's capable of yet I don't see the same energy for players like Sesko or Gyökeres, Toney's age probably counts against him as well.

At the end of the day Toney represents an upgrade because he's a good striker who's played in this league before, has a respectable record for Brentford who aren't an attacking team and he's better than our current options, no-one can argue against that and for £40m we could do a lot worse,
