Premier league has 19 abject failures with chairmen cunts every season. And that’s before we get to the REAL losers in the lower leagues.
No fucking ambition at Coventry

Using the lower leagues and the likes of fucking Coventry to justify our abject failure under ENIC.

So fucking desperate, man. .:mourweird:

Anyway, good to see your English is improving, Monsieur LeParisien from Clapham

I’m bilingual. I have law degrees from the U.K. and France. I got to vote in the EU elections because my country didn’t vote to leave.

Next question.

Oh, and yes the WHOLE POINT of using Coventry was to show the absurdity of using trophies as the sole metric for success. It rules out 98% of the football pyramid. Well done for understanding - argumentation is a universal language.

The aim is to improve the squad as much as possible within the constraints that a club has. You don’t set a strategy to catch City / thats not a strategy, it’s a dream.

That’s the cold hard reality.

Bollox

You build a strategy to beat them and win things.

If you accept that you can't win, what is the point? why build the stadium and expect fans to pay the highest prices in football?

That is indeed why some clubs are elite and others aren't.

Winning is success. That's the whole point of sport.

If you are in the Championship, win that and it's success. Same for League 1, or the FA Cup, League Cup.

You can give our participation trophies for finishing 4th if it makes you feel better but it's not real success.
Il faut que tu pousses ta pensée un peu plus loin.

You have set success for a club as only possible if you are at the top of your league. If we got relegated and then promoted again, you would presumably class that as more “success” than if we stayed 3-7th for the next few seasons. In reality we would have yoyod - there’s no progress there.

But that is unnecessarily restrictive. Success is improving upon where you are currently, wherever that may be. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, the general trend has been for us to improve over 25 years. It has been rocky but we’ve made progress. We’ve been very successful.

It would be nice to win some trophies to stamp that.

I would view relegation as failure and winning promotion as success. That’s how it works. Sport has winners and losers. It’s the whole point.

The cold hard truth as you like to say.

On your vision, if we had been relegated in 2020 and 2021 to League 1 and then been promoted in 2022 and 2023 and now finished 15th last season, we’d have seen more success in the past five years.

For me it would be abject failure and miserable decline and I’d have been Levy out in 2020.

Your view is insane to most fans.

What are we looking for? To improve our quality and close the gap or just more fluff?
Honestly we really need better depth- we were on a tear until we got hit with the run of injuries and suspensions. With more quality depth in attack and CB/FB, who knows what we could have achieved last season?

This year with Europe there’ll be plenty more games to play too. I’m cool with simply having more depth. Not being able to find a decent sub on the bench should not be a problem we have too often. It was a huge problem this past season.
