And the Royal deal held up as well.
Hopefully a compromise on both players will get both transfers over the line.

Maybe both players have other buyers.

Cooper to Leicester could help us with Spence. They have FFP issues and will need a HG RWB on the cheap to fit the Cooper system.

As for Emerson he definitely looks to have a few clubs interested but that's terrible news when Levy needs to sign off.

...meanwhile on SC there's page after page about Neto joining Spurs and how excited they are about it, after one of their Oracles spoke, "Neto has personally spoken with Ange and is keen."
How keen are his hamstrings, though?

We conceded 60+ goals last year. If you want to replace one of our pressing B2B players in the line up with another twinkle toes CAM who can't defend I'd suggest your judgement is off.

Wow talk about stretching to make a point.

We also went through a long stretch where our back 4 had 2RBs and 2 LBs...

I wouldn't blame it all on Sarr, Bentancur, and sometime PEH.

Sort of agree with the poster above

Not that I don’t like eze, I really do, but if we’re dropping that sort of cash I’d want it to be on one of the areas we are really light

If we are signing him to play on the left wing he’ll be cutting inside constantly and clogging up that part of the pitch

Just think there could be better fits for what we need

He is a great player tho, no doubt

You can’t make a prediction like that as you have never seen them play together. Against me y teams it x
could be possible that they gel very well.

For me. Calvert lewin match fit and injury free is the best 9 certainly English 9 in the prem...Newcastle bound?...had half an inkling 12 mths left on his deal MIGHT attract levies attraction to.a deal... I'de sorta like to see c/L in a Tottenham shirt
honestly thought he was gonna challenge kane 3ish seasons ago for the England spot... Footballs cruel...

Bit of a dumb thing to say tbh. I haven't seen Bryan Gil and Ndombele play together in our midfield either but I have a pretty good idea it wouldn't work.

Football is all about making judgements on things you don't know 100% on. Eze I've watched plenty at Palace, maybe you haven't - he's not a good defender. Maddison we all know is flimsy and also not a good defender. Play them both together in the same midfield and my judgement is our midfield would have more holes in it than a Swiss cheese. Ange likes his midfields to be high pressing and high energy - Sarr and Bentancur bring that. You can't just load it with G/A merchants, this isn't fantasy football.

The only way I could see Eze and Maddison playing together in the same midfield is late on against relegation fodder if you need a goal but they won't be starting together regularly and I'll bet my account on that.

There's a reason why the best midfields usually have a B2B to partner with their creative mid, because all midfields need balance. Woolwich ended up with Rice and Odegaard in the #8s, we had Sarr and Maddison, Chelsea had Gallagher and Palmer.

The only successful team I can think of that regularly uses two #10s is City, but (1) KDB isn't really a #10 anyway, he's a big fucker who runs hard and who can get stuck in if needs be, 2) they have the best #6 on the planet covering them, we don't, and 3) they have arguably the best manager of all time figuring out how to make it work.

Where are the goals coming from without Son?
If we get Chiesa we can phase Son out, which is probably the plan

If our summer consists of Werner, Bergvall, Vanderson, Eze, Doue & Chiesa how do you rate it?
Sonny as the striker! I'm ok with that. He scored 17 last season and was on the wing for half of that. Is probably the 2nd best finisher in the league behind Haaland. Could score 25+. Has much better numbers than Toney. Not sure why he isn't our striker. Always seems to be underrated by us.

He's an outstanding finisher and an enthusiastic presser but lacks the classical "9" attributes to make him an effective outlet in transition (hold-up play, physicality, aerial strength), and doesn't seem to do well in a central position against a low block.

Son had a good start up front when we were firing as a team but in the last third of the season he was completely invisible. Worryingly so. If he's not getting balls in behind he's doing sweet fuck all up top; no physical presence, can't hold it up, constantly bullied off the ball, doesn't have the playmaking when he drops deep, can't head, and he looks uncomfortable receiving back to goal.

His game (and the team's perfomances) massively improved again when he was moved out to the left wing. Which I'd imagine is where he'll spend the remainder of his career for us.

Sonny went off the boil when Maddison and others went off the boil and he got no decent service. You need a striker that can score goals and he is a finisher. If he can score 25+ in a season it doesn't matter if he is not great in the air. He presses better than anyone else does. Richarliason is great in the air and doesn't get bullied off the ball but doesn't score enough goals. I guess we need a player that combines both but that is only Kane, Haaland, Mbappe and we ain't getting any of them.
