How do you know he greenlit it? Just because he waffled on in an interview once and gave it the jonny big bollocks that we don't sign players without his blessing, doesn't mean it's remotely true.

I’m not excited by Gimenez as a striker that takes us up a level. I’m hoping for a more ambitious target.

But


I wasn’t excited by VDV as a CB to be ready for the prem yet. I was very wrong about that. Also didn’t want Brennan and he ended up with double digit assists and could have easily scored double digit goals too.

I will be gutted for now if it’s Gimenez but based on experience of VDV and Vicario it’s a bit extreme to say Brennan and Gimenez are enough reason to be done with him

Had plenty of reservations about VDV.

Was behind Vicario over that league of gentlemen looking hobbit that the scum signed. Taking credit for that at least.

Gimenez is not the striker I’d have hoped we go for though

He's near enough identical to Gyokeres and Openda on the data.

Except he has the better goals to game ratio. Stronger league than Gyokeres, weaker than Openda. Younger than both.

Considering Richy is staying, still think I'd have rather just gambled on Guirrasey considering his price and age and let Veliz, Lankshear and Scarlett all go out to develop

In fact, Richarlison is better at pretty much everything except expected goals - but that's only because Richarlison doesn't take penalties (and Spurs don't get any)

Per the Extra Inch Podcast, It doesn't sound like we're using Data to find players, but more confirm the eye test.

So, with data it's going to be more than the data we have publicly available that they are using and we definitely have no ideas what filter profiles they would be using.

Maybe Gyokeres and Gimenez look to have a similar profile on the numbers publicly available, that could just be coincidence that we have also been linked to both.

Even then data will only be part of the picture as well. These days I feel like data led approach can also be a bit of a buzzword and maybe they consider certain things in the data but end of the day Ange still watches them play and gets on the blower to make sure they aren't a total weapon.
