Agree.

Need to be really careful not to stodge the squad up again.

We are just clearing out the squad of Jose and Conte players. No need to be picking up permanent deals for too many players older than 23/24 tbh. Unless we are sure they are bonfide superstars (for us at least)
Why the arbitrary 23/24 age cut off? We also need experience. Chiesa is 26 not 30.

25m is peanuts. We're giving Werner 160k a week ffs.

We need depth in all areas and the wings are probably where we have it least.

Son, Kulu, Johnson, Werner, Solomon, Gil is a very meh group and the last two will be moved on.

Chiesa + Doue for 65m would be a massive improvement to the group although we would be a bit LW heavy.
Maybe that is why the Neto links are surfacing as we need better on the right.

I'd be happy with any 2 of those 3.

Eze as the icing on the cake and we win the league.

Werner is a loan so we can cut ties at any time.

Past 24 that 4 year contract takes them into an age category where they are harder for us to sell.

I'm not against experience but for players we know and want to keep. Say Romero and VDV, I'd love to keep both into their late 20's.

Do i want to sign Chiesa at 27 and maybe get stuck with his wages for 4 years? nah not really.

That's why Doue and Neto works better for me than Doue and Chiesa. Both have injury challenges but Neto is 23/24. At 28 he will still retain value after his 4 year contract.

The fee would be low (this isn't an Ndombele situation) and he's a level of player that even if he didn't quite work out in the PL there would be a lot of demand for him back in Italy so we'd be able to flog him. They love old washed up players over there.

It's a low risk move imo. If he gets back to his best we have a real player there.
If he is a level below that he still improves our depth.

Are we sure there would be a demand back in Italy?

if he's going this cheap already there can't be that much demand for him in Italy now....

Schwing from our medical team maybe! But a very good players.

for 25m its not the end of the world if it doesnt work. 25m is peanuts in football today. its a punt worth taking, if it dont work, oh well.
If you're Chelsea, you take a £25m punt on an injury prone player.
If they're crap, you just farm them out to the u23s and give their squad space to someone else.

If you're Spurs, you don't. You don't discard a £25m "asset" you keep them in the 25 man squad no matter what as we can't have a £25m asset that isn't able to ever play.
And by doing that, you block anyone else from joining the squad.

Levynomics.

Init.
