Such a simplistic way of looking at things, look deeper than the stats.

1. "15 goal involvements" so are we saying 5 goals in 32 games is a good return for a winger at a club with ambitions of winning things?
2. Of those "goal involvements" only two came against top 8 sides. The assist vs Liverpool (when we were 4 nil down) and the goal against Villa. He is not a difference maker against the best sides.

He is a decent squad option to roll out against lesser sides but he is not keeping any Woolwich/City defenders up at night before a game.

If we go into the season with him as our starting winger we will win fuck all. Upgrade needed.
He’s not really a winger like say Aaron Lennon, he’s a wide forward so expected to get 10 goals ish. Agree, his all around play isn’t good enough at the mo. G/A is ok

Really need to get a hurry on with these outgoings to have any chance at bringing in the level we need to catch the title chasers.

May as well release Solomon on a free.

Davies we probably should release on a free and allow him to choose his next club.

Reguillon slash the price down, PEH and GLC slash those prices right down as well.

Transfers in by our direct competitors - Woolwich (Raya who was on a loan with option to buy), Manu (nobody), Liverpool (nobody),

Other than the Everton/Villa/Chelsea transfers to improve their ffp position, nobody else doing any/many signings - Spurs signing Gray with loan signing Werner and Bergvall (can only sign in a window - his February 'sign/loan back' now officially recognised in transfer to Spurs) makes us look good.

Not sure that much real business being done yet - at best clubs are talking.

Now do Maddison.

When you’re done with him, do every other player about from Son.

Sounds like we’ve done the best business so far.

I don’t give a fuck about them. They are different clubs with different owners.

We have 25 points to catch up on teams like that, we need to be doing more than them.

We will see if these players step up or it turns out to be massively underwhelming. However I won’t revisit this later with hindsight , I think Bergval and Gray are great signings . Werner is a bit shit if a starter , but as a back up I would be happy . Only issue for me is 175k for a squad player is steep, but overall I am happy so far . Levy still has quite a bit to do though and he must do it. We need 3 or 4 experienced players, certainly 3 I think , as well as shifting the deadwood,

The difference between them is the fact that Maddison actually has technical ability.

I don't rate Maddison as highly as most and think he had a poor season but at least when players have the technical ability you can talk about them being out of form, injuries.

Johnson is technically poor, there are very few if any examples of professional footballers improving in technical ability once they're an established pro at 22, he is what he is from that standpoint which is fine for a team like Forest but not for a team trying to be serious and compete for trophies.

If you're going to be technically substandard but have a place in a top team then you need to be outstanding physically and tactically which he is clearly not bar his speed which is only useful in a straight line and under no physical pressure.

Another mediocre player that will be championed by the blind fans until the correct decision is made and he's gotten rid of.

So release them then and learn the lesson of signing bad players to be “back ups” and “squad players”.

We don’t need to release that many though tbh. Cut the price on Reggie, PEH, GLC and all 3 will go quickly. Then we have the squad space to bring in the quality we need.
If Emerson goes we've got 5 out permanently, which isnt terrible for early July....Ndombele, Sess, Tanganga, Rodon and Emerson. Hojbjerg will go, i dont think the fee will be an issue, it will likely be around £20m, just the Euros have slowed that down. Pretty confident Lo Celso, Spence and Reggie go. Think its Gil, Solomon and Davies we might have issues with.

I thought some were being too pessimistic about outgoings and thought we'd get rid of 10 by September and sticking with that. The rest we'll just have to loan.

Market is so dead though.

Gil and Solomon are the ones for me. We really need to sort that forward line out and by loan or by free transfer, those 2 need shifting asap

I don’t care if Maddison is technically much better than Johnson if he scores and assists less often. That’s true absolutely and it’s true if you adjust for the slight difference in minutes played. Johnson had a better season than Maddison and is four years younger.

The only reason to bring in how much technically better Maddison is, is if you think this season was a blip. Still strange that people go for our second most productive player this season when there were many worse performers.

If nobody is buying and other clubs reluctant to sell (as the players they sell need upgrading0 it means there is no/minimal market to do business in.

Market will pick up after euros/copa america - but will still affected by other clubs close to having ffp problems, ability to do business.

So 2nd half of July more business will be done
