He will never start a first team game for us. Nowhere near good enough. Saw more in 20 mins with Lankshear than I’ve seen of Scarlett in any game whether it’s off the bench with us or on loan.
 
Apparently we've been discussing wages with Eze. That's got to be a good sign.

Doesn't mean he'll come here but it does seem to mean that we will actually pay the release clause.

I doubt it was 65M, I imagine 20% of that was based on performance and appearances which haven’t been met.

The fee is already amortised though so from a cash flow no return but from a financial perspective I think fully off the balance sheet or at worse 20% written off

Sure, in terms of balance sheets, but when you make an investment in a player, you would expect there to be some retained value.

its terrible business to pay a large transfer fee for a player and then allow his contract to run down - even worse to terminate it.

The total cost to the club for Ndombele would likely exceed 80m. For which we had very few performances.

Same applies to the likes of Lo Celso. Huge outlay and we are very unlikely to recoup more than 15m.

I think people are misreading what he said, and panicking too soon...
What I UNDERSTAND from what he said is he's "comfortable with where we're at..." ...and we're AT the first week of Pre-Season with 2 ridiculously promising young new signings in the bag, with - I hope/assume - MORE to come!
THAT'S where we're at right now.
If we haven't signed another player by September 1st and he says the same line, THEN I'll start to panic. But please not yet FFS!

Yep but comparable to our peers I think is probably less than most. Goons have written off loads of players, Pepe etc as have others

We just can’t compete with CL clubs like Utd, or Goons, Liv etc until the stadium is built due to the low ticket prices we charge and small ground capacity.
