He was only mentioned once in here and that was by dudu dudu

This is what I'm saying, people weren't talking about him last season, like no one was up in arms we missed out on him but since he's now on the radar of a few clubs because he scored goals in the mighty Super Liga and the striker market is dead he's suddenly the striker we should be going for.

Sorry you're gonna have to convince me why we should be parting with so much money for a striker who's done it for one season in an average league.
We were talking about him in the Kane topic as a potential replacement last season. Nobody was up in arms but I mentioned because he had a similar style to Kane. As you know there was about 50 names thrown about last season to replace Kane.
If you look about you don’t see anything that screams he’s worth the £70/£80 million that’s needed to bring in a decent striker.
Osimhen won’t be an option
Sesko signed a new deal at RBL
Giminez is a bigger gamble than Gyokeres
Openda is not a central striker and is a hit or miss
Vlahovic would be decent
Kolo Muani - see Openda
David is an interesting one as he has scored goals regularly and can link the play.
Ramos has just came off a season not playing much

I think Gyokeres out of all of them is more of the full package and that’s why I like him. I don’t think we will sign him because we won’t play his release clause.
I’ve just been impressed every time I’ve seen him.

Ramsey would be a decent option to take the squad place of PEH and GLC.

I’m trying to work out what the CM rotation would look like:

Bissouma / Gray
Sarr / Bentancur / Bergvall
Maddison / Ramsey / Devine

Tbh that still needs tweaks to me. If it’s me I’m taking an offer for Bentancur and moving Ramsey to the other 8 spot so we could get Eze/Baena/MGW for the 10
I don’t like players coming as ‘decent options’ really. Ramsey might be great under Ange but I can’t say I’m excited at the prospect. Ange wants the player who can move the ball from defence to attack quickly and seems to like Gallagher and Ramsey .There must be better out there but the club is also conscious of adding to our home grown quota.

I just don’t get Lo Celso, why hasn’t he worked here for us. It has to be an attitude problem because he was fine in Spain when on loan and while playing for Argentina. Maybe he just hates us.
We almost never have played him as a 10, which was incredibly stupid of us as it’s his natural position. He is NOT an 8 even though he might play like one sometimes in Argentinas system.

He’s 29 so he really doesn’t fit the profile we’re after nor does he really take us up a level - I rather see the youngsters given a chance tbh. I don’t think he moves the needle THAT much.

We’ve also been linked too him for several years so could be lazy journalism.

Yeah it’s bound to be bollocks, but I do think we need more experience in the team. However, not from him, he seems a bit of a bellend.

He isn't a good enough passer to be the 10 IMO, but is pretty much perfect for the 8.

If we bought a #10 that can play on the wing, like Eze or Doue in addition to Ramsey, he would be a good signing, but we would need to move on Lo Celso, PEH, Skipp and 1 of Bentancur or Bissouma and loan Devine and Donley.

It would also be behind a Winger, Striker and LB (as well as Eze/Doue) in priority of signings.

#6 - Bentancur/Bissouma & Gray
#8 - Ramsey, Sarr & Bergvall
#10 - Madison & Eze/Doue

i'd rather we abandon the idea of bringing in a 4th choice Cb and just trust one of Phillips or Dorrington (probably Phillips) for that role. Also probably need to keep Davies 1 more season to provide even further cover at CB and LB.

Just focus on attacking options please.

Seems baffling to improve our strongest position when we desperately need a winger and striker.

I don't have a problem with any of this by the way but firstly there's a narrative being pushed as if we missed out on him last season and we ought to have gone for him - this is pure hindsight, just because he's a hit in the Super Liga doesn't mean that he would have been a guaranteed hit with us.

Secondly again this narrative being pushed as if he's the one that's gonna turn our fortunes around and we have to part with the money and spend £80m if we are serious is funny, I'd expect that of an Osimhen level striker not Gyokeres, the guy hasn't even played CL football.

This is what happens when a market is dead in a certain position, players get over valued because there's a dearth of natural talent in that position so selling clubs up the price because they know buying clubs are desperate.
