I like Alasdair Gold, dont see Toney as an Ange signing - too old and attitude wont cut it.
Expect a winger, striker and attacking midfielder to be incoming. They wont be massive names.

Moore is probably going to be a superstar and Lankshear has potential. If they are good enough they will over the next 1-3 years become established first 11 players.

We can’t however just wait for 2-3 years. That leads to whack a mole which has happened repeatedly down the years. You wait for the attack to get fixed by which time Romero has left and then you have to fix the defence and when you fix the defence the attack is then an issue.

We had a forward line of Bale-Kane-Son and a backline of Sanchez and Dier. We now have fixed our backline but need to fix our front line instead. If we want to challenge we need a complete team like City and Arse.

Standing still is going backwards in football. It is that competitive.

And the toughest part of this challenge to not stand still is that even standing still requires significant investment in the transfer market every year.

With the young players in our squad we can get progress from their growth but we still need to constantly push the quality of the starting 11 to make them develop against better players.

Son is not a 9

It does. Not work!

We’re in the EL that’s at least 8 European games

We need another striker as well as keeping Richarlison
It can work, the main issue is that apart from Kulusevski (who isn’t an ideal fit as a winger in Ange’s system) None of our current forwards can keep the ball for an extended period of time in the final 3rd.

Johnson, Son and Richarlison are all final action players.

Werner Solomon and Gil are not even worth discussing.

Son is a better striker than a winger to me these days, especially how Ange uses them. His movement and finishing is still brilliant but he can’t carry the ball and beat anyone 1v1 with regularity, we desperately lack a Nico Williams/Jeremy Doku/Anthony Gordon style player, a winger who will occupy 2-3 opponents every time they get the ball.

Moore is on his way but it’s too early to rely on him full time.

Is that really you, AG, you boring motherfucker!

Here's an idea, fuckface.

When you've got your notes prepared for your latest youtube video - ask chatgpt or microsoft pilot to summary/condense it for you, then use THAT to do your vids - 50 minute videos down to 5 mins, just like that.

You're fucking welcome, you ass-faced racoon.

For me the transfer market should be used as this: what is our biggest weakness, and commit the most money to fixing that.

So last year I felt Vicario and Van De Ven did that, Brennan Johnson not so much, but I can see the logic begin buying him.

I genuinely think Paratici did an incredible job because the club just completely lost its way on the football side of things from 17-22. It takes longer to fix a problem than it does to create on and unfortunately we’re in that phase right now.

This was such a big issue for me last season, and not one we’ve rectified yet. The ball just kept bouncing back, particularly in the second half of the season. Even the best defence/midfield will struggle under constant pressure like that…

I agree and I do think Johnson made enough impact in his first season to say that he pushed the starting 11 quality.

But that doesn't mean we can't sign another player in his position to push the quality of the starting 11 again. Until you reach the top, every signing you make should be aiming to push one of your starting 11 players into a position where they need to compete to stay the starting 11 player in that spot.

The good young players will adapt and grow into that level. The young players who can't adapt aren't good enough yet so you loan them until they are or sell them.

...well good for you.
I'm neither here nor there on him myself!

...and THIS, Ladies & Gentlemen of the 'Pedant' persuasion, is where the much maligned COMMA comes in handy!

Punctuation, Punctuation, PUNCTUATION!!

Very very unlikely to happen imo. Next year maybe.

think weve got one more year of romero. after this season coming hell be sick of it and want out and we will be two steps back again. its been snakes and ladders since berbatov and keane days. always missing that final couple pieces and the gems we have get sick of wasting years and we then need to replace them too.
