This is basically what I was trying to say in my prior post. Front line balance.

Also again, highlights Spurs biggest issue…lack of final 3rd ball retention. You need at least one profile like Eze, Doue, Grealish etc who can cherish the ball, stay on it in the final 3rd and manipulate the opposition

Question is whether its too early to think of Donley in that kind of role - was better than anyone else in that kind of role in PL2 (not just Spurs u21) last year and looked good in pre-season despite playing as LB.

And Devine isn't too shabby there either.

Difficult to assess Bergvall as we've really not seen enough of him, but he's a maybe too.

The ultimate ball retention winger was Eden Hazard.

So the profile is:

- retain possession under pressure well
- link smartly with players around
- good at dribbling and running full backs
- hold width when needed

I am not sure we have any player of that profile in our squad. Neto/Doue/Cheisa are the players linked that are sort of this type so I suspect we have to buy for this.

Donley is great in possession. He’s an attacking mid. But he’s athletically limited which would frighten me to play him at LB in meaningful matches.

Looking at our friendlies hasn’t change my mind. We have a good squad with some brilliant young player.

still need

LCB/LB - sell Davies for an upgrade (Davies by the way has been a great professional for us)

Wide forward - Son, Moore and Johnson are great goal scorers but someone who is quick, holds the ball up well, holds the width, runs the full backs. Neto/Cheisa are linked they would do, they are different to what we have in how they play and can help with balance. Werner and Solomon are maybe not quite the level.

AM - Maddison needs competition, Eze is perfect. Also means with them 2 and Kulusevski we can switch tactics to a rotation possession attack like City if we need.

Striker - Richy ain’t bad but always bloody injured. Would like Goykeres but Toney/Solanke isn’t awful.

I think we do this and we will be lovely for the season ahead.

And DM. Our fullbacks and the space in front of them is still woefully unprotected

The little turd is trying to force us to accept worse terms than we want — if as reported, a loan without obligation. He should be looking at all possibilities to get his career back on track.

We really don’t owe him anything given his performances. If he refuses to go anywhere else because Girona won’t pay up then don’t register him and bury him. It’s not like he’s costing us N’Dombele wages.

People turning their noises up at eze will be the first bitching that there's no creativity in the team next season./ No game changers off the bench/ no one to challenge maddison when his form drops off a cliff
The strength of their rhetoric is directly proportional to the distance from the transfer window closing date. The closer we get, the more they try to convince themselves and everyone else that we don't need these rumoured players.

Some people call out the repeated BS of us going into pre-season without our main transfer targets, year after year after year after year.... and some people just take copium.
