There’s almost no risk to Spurs though. It’s clear the worst that can happen is we just loan him out again for the extra year. There are quite a few Spanish clubs who seem willing to take him on.

The best that can happen is that he’s good for Girona and his stock goes up. Girona are a team in the champion’s league for the first time so have a lot of games and have a smallish squad. It’s likely he will get significant minutes.

Extending his contract for a year is smart because a player’s value goes down a lot when they just have a year left. The extension means we avoid this situation.

So what Spurs did is the smartest business decision, but I still reckon the most likely scenario is that he’s underwhelming and we just have to give him away.
He will have a year left when he finishes the loan, so in the same position as he is now. We just have to hope he does well and someone buys him. I would take 10m now . He has had two loans in Spain and done nothing. To be fair he didn’t do that much before we bought him.
I looked at YouTube when we bought him and it was obvious he would get kicked all over the place. He is keen to fall over at the slightest opportunity as well
Suppose Paratici is allowed one big mistake.
Anyway, Emerson should be gone shortly so LoCelso and Reggie to go. Just need Luke Shaw to get injured again and United might take Reggie again.

They extended the contract , will have a year left at end of the loan

Either way it was done to protect the value of the asset because Gil is still a young player with incredible technical ability and a good football IQ.

I don’t get the fuss tbh. It was a sensible move and outside the box thinking. Good for Gil because he won’t be priced out of a move so still incentives for him to earn a move and make us money

Donley, although here's hoping they both smash it

The last ten years have been what? Townsend, Winks, Mason, Bentaleb, Skipp, (Harry Kane of course), mwybe I've missed a couple? Didn't work out for any of them to any real standard (Harry Kane of course)

How good would it be to see Devive and Donley, along with the plethora of other young talent, getting proper minutes?

Sarr Gray Bergvall as our midfield away to AFC Dave in the milk cup for example!

Meanwhile the Extra Inch podcast have done an analysis of our squad and determined we

- should spend 30m on Kyle Walker Peters. As a left back. Because he's club trained.
- Should spend 70m on Eze
- Should spend 50m on another centre back (Todibo)
- Should sell Kulusevski
- Should buy another left back.

I make that 150m on players that don't even improve our first team while also selling our second most creative player last season in Kulu.

How has this podcast survived so long? Reminds me when Bardi did a video last summer slamming Vicario's shot stopping skills. That aged well.

we could prob get 7-9 mill for skipp, should take that and run. the midfield is stacked with decent quality now which over time will only depreciate skipp through making him look out of his depth when he plays and also he will be starved of minutes as a lot in front of him. nice kid, hope he goes on to have a good career, but this level is too heavy for him.

desperate for a couple of attackers to get the juices going now. toney and chiesa and the place would be buzzing. for 70m its a no brainer.
Agree it's time to move Skipp, but I reckon we could get a good 15m for him. He's young, HG, had a good season at Norwich in a double pivot, good injury record.

No idea. Dont @ me, was really struggling for content.

Occasionally when I'm starved of Spurs chatter I'll listen to the Fighting Cock. Very occasionally I'll try Extra Inch if I'm looking for something else, don't think I've ever made it more than about 15 minutes before they say something so mind numbingly stupid I have to turn off in anger.

Available capital is the main limiting factor preventing us from investing in the squad right now. Levy is asset rich but cash poor - his entire net worth is tied up in the club. Lewis is gone and was never interested in putting his money in anyway, his family less so.

We have a £400m FFP overhang that we can't make use of unless we borrow against the value of the club. But we already have £1Billion of debt tied up in the stadium, it's understandable the club doesn't want to add to that to invest in players.

The alternative: sell 10% of the club to an investor, freeing up cash and allowing Levy to realise some of his gains. Fine with it so long as that cash is invested in the squad.

We can have issues with who we sell 10% to but ultimately all these uber-rich types are lizards. If it's not Stavely it'd be some oligarch or Qatari oil baron or US finance bro like Boehly. You don't get that rich without being a scumbag.
Selling a stake in the club is likely with the intention that the shareholders can realise funds from their original investment.

It does not mean those funds will find their way back into the club!

Of all the attacking players "linked" I actually think Neto would be the biggest difference maker for the games he's actually fit for. Not sure what I want to happen to be honest, not too many obvious transfers there to be made.

Investors can stipulate that money is for investment, not just for paying off current shareholders.

Ratcliffe's investment in United, for instance, has been earmarked for investing in the squad and stadium and not just into the Glazer's pockets.

Why would you need to upgrade 4th place CB if you are just playing kids in Europe?
Because last year we lost our two first choice centre backs, were forced to play Davies and dropped from 1st place to 5th.

He's fine on the ball but simply doesn't have the attributes to enable us to play the way we require under Ange.

He's slow, so can't play high line football.
Small, so can't win headers.
Weak, so gets outmuscled by big strikers.

Currently he's our 5th CB anyway after Gray. Time to go.
