It reminds me a little bit of when we signed Darren bent.

Decent player, will likely improve our team, but isn't going to take us to the top and you would never see someone like City buying a darren bent or solanke.

Darren Bent wasn't a bad player.
There. I said it.

Isak likely sees us as a step sideways at best right now.

Spurs fans need to accept that we have to buy players long before they become established stars; anything else is delusional thinking.

I know you're replying to someone else, so this isn't directed at you....
Why the actual fuck is anyone talking about Isak like a viable option?
Newcastle have owners worth half a fucking trillion quid.
PSR, FFP, none it it really matters to them. They're not selling an important, hard to replace player. Not to a domestic rival either.

Darren Bent was and still is a total melt. Redknapp never fancied him tbh and he seemed to be more of a signing the club pushed for. Solanke has a profile that fully fits what the manager is publicly asking for and the scouting seems to be more specific. We saw from Solanke last season that he will put himself about against anyone as well. He's much more assertive and aggressive than Darren Bent ever was.
This biggest issue Bent had was a lack of support IMO.
In some ways, he was just unlucky to join when he did as he was in a squad that also had Berbatov, Keane and Defoe.
Think about that for a minute. Once upon a time, we had a choice of Berbatov, Kean, Defoe and Bent.
Now we have a choice of Richarlison on a selection of players playing out of position.

That squad had much less quality in other areas though. Just a fetish for strikers because we were playing 4-4-2.

The Reds offloaded Solanke to Bournemouth in the summer of 2019 for a fee believed to be in the region of £19m plus add-ons.

Additionally, the sale included a sell-on clause that would see Liverpool net 20% of any fee the Cherries received from a future sale.

Levy must be having kittens having to part with that sort of cash for that level of player and honestly I can’t blame him. The price for an average PL home grown attacker is crazy. How is it sustainable? Teams should just refuse to pay it and look abroad.
to be fair. solanke at least looks a player. johnson for 50m was beyond foolish, you only have to watch him for 5 minutes to see how limited he is.

Granted, but when you have people shouting "just pay the money for Gyokeres," when he hasn't played a single match in the PL, then you've got to question that motivation. He's outscored his xG in the Portuguese league. That alone should put a question mark over his potential suitability, but because it's an £80M pricetag, he's suddenly elevated to elite class.

You can apply the same logic to Alvarez, who's played in a much better team, that create far more chances for their front men, who has also underperformed his xG (more than Solanke), yet we've had the "just pay the extra £20M for Alvarez" posts on here over the last day or so.

The only real conclusion you can arrive at, when you look at those 3 players, is that it is the pricetag that is getting the "shiny cadre" all moist.

So we're clear, I have no real dog in this fight. All of them have "concerns," but to dismiss one because he's had one good season, then elevate the other 2 when one has never played in the PL, and the other has been hugely underwhelming, is ridiculous.

Made this point before, sexy name foreigner tax, the fanbase loves an unknown hence why Soldado and Janssen were so loved. Also the mystique of a foreigner is perceived better because you don't actually see their flaws week in week out unlike Prem players.

Reckon this club could sign some unknown cunt from the Super Liga called Jose Domingos for £60m despite him being utter balls and this fanbase would be convinced that we are finally showing ambition 😍

Not saying osimhen the one I want is at Newcastle if we are willing to spend 65 on solanke I would go the extra mile and go all in for isak. Napoli will never get 120 mill for osimhen unless someone stupid pays like Woolwich. For how we play isak is the best one to get 6 foot 4 pace scored a shitload last season and chips in with assists. And way more technically sound then solanke

Isak - now we are talking

Under ENIC. Just saying.

Interesting comments from ange. Mentions how 50% of the players from last year aren’t on the tour this year. Clearly wanted a huge clear out which is still ongoing. Just as important it seems to get rid of the ones he doesn’t see have a future here

Seems relaxed about transfers - from everything I am reading the club have a long term plan and only want to target a certain profile who fits exactly what he wants.

Doesn’t seem to be any panic setting in. Perhaps if they feel that certain targets aren’t achievable they will look to promote some of the youth players instead

Only panic/anger coming from the fans who have zero patience (understandably I will add)
