Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'm sorry mate, I usually agree with you but I can't here. I think he simply doesn't have the mechanics to make it for a top four side. Granted, he did very well in winning a decent number of our clearances today, but after that he simply couldn't hold on to the ball with a dribble or pass.
He is not a pacey dribbler. He is a different sort of player, very good technique, good shot, clever etc. Too early to tell if he has a future here but I look forward to seeing more of him. He was pretty good in our league cup match against Villa.

You realise he was brought on in a completely backs against the wall scenario where we normally fuck it away? I think he coped more than admirably. Also he is only 20, so to write him off as not good enough is just ridiculous.

I'm not saying he has or doesn't have what it takes, I haven't seen enough to judge fairly. But to flat out say he doesn't have what it takes is a joke.

You're too black and white here. Just because he's young doesn't mean he's "got time." I'm saying straight up the kid's not got the tangibles at this point, where he should, to survive at a top four-aspiring club. As I said earlier, he did well winning some of those clearances, but he lost the ball faaaar too easily in his subsequent touches. You don't come into some of the things he's lacking, pace notably, as you age in the Prem.

Really? Because I'm not writing off a 20 year old player who hasn't even gotten a fair chance in the league to prove his worth. What games are you basing these assessments of his "tangibles" off of?

Just because a player's young doesn't mean he has time to develop all the tools necessary to succeed. I've watched every game he's come on for us in league play and the cups, and while he does have some nice facets to his game such as a decent shot, he doesn't have other required assets.

You're more than welcome to disagree, but I'd bet a brand new home shirt that he'll never consistently start for a team that finishes in the top four.

People were saying that Townsend wasn't good enough for the team and should be sold. He got a chance in the team and has shown that he has the potential to be a very good player for us. The point is, nobody knows how well a player will do until given a chance to show it. Until Kane has a chance like that, I don't think we can judge whether or not he is top four quality. Its just too early to tell.

Indeed, they were calling for him to go. But, the reason I always disagreed and championed Andros is because he clearly had what it took, just lacked the experienced touch. Kane simply doesn't have it. As I said, feel free to disagree on the basis that he's young, but I'd be very surprised if he ever makes it.

Bit unfair to judge him on yesterday when he's just come back from a long injury, has no match sharpness and he gets thrown on in an emergency against one of the best sides in the country. I thought he did ok and there was one trap he did off a massive punted clearance that was berbatov-esque. Sadly he gave the ball away after that but, like i said, lack of sharpness probably played its part.
I'm not saying he's definitely got what it takes to lead the line for a top side but he has shown a big improvement this season when I've seen him play so deserves a little more time to see how much more he can develop.

So I gather you've watched him in at least some of his loan spells to come to a decision then?

Windy describes him in the mold of Teddy Sheringham. Based on that alone I think I'm willing to give him a chance, at least until he has to take up a squad number at a minimum.

Oh fear not, judging a player in one match, regardless if he's perfectly fit and finely tuned from match play, is utter folly. My opinion of Kane is from watching him closely the last two years.
