Just remember the leak via Paul O'Keefe was 3 signings already waiting on green light from the other clubs. the delay wasn't on the Spurs end.

No way that came from an agent. That kind of line had to come from within the club somewhere.

Depends on what the green light is

If the green light was teams not wanting to push the button until they got replacements in but have failed in doing so, then again, not really on us.

We may have others on the list we are happy to move onto, but I think Ange would rather wait and see it out to get the first choice players, even if it means waiting a bit.

Which is frustrating and is a bit of a gamble tbh.

Liverpool signed nobody, City nobody, Gooners 1 signing and it's in a position they're already the best at, Villa a few signings but they've lost their best player and another v.good player, Newcastle meh, Chavski not strengthened.

Only United have made significant signings and even then 1 of them is out for 3 months plus.

The Euros/Copa has really buggered this summer for signings but i'm confident it will start picking up (for everyone) soon.

This will be ignored and you'll be told that we need to do more compared to our rivals or something.

True... which is the context but we need a couple of players who raise our bar. No doubt.

I'm getting 2018 vibes tbh.

Gray and Bergvall barely count for this season, and Werner was already here.

Banter club. As always.
Its similar. You kept on thinking something would happen, they must have something up their sleeve, keeping a tight lid on things etc and nothing.

Thats not to say i think we'll do nothing this time but no excuse for this pissing around. Its fine waiting for 1 specific target maybe until the last week but i just think leaving your entire business until the last 3 weeks just smacks of naivety. Things will obviously go wrong if they havent already.

As Master Yoda likes to say:

Star Wars There Is No Try GIF

Football doesn't care why you didn't get the deal done. It doesn't care why you didn't win the trophy either.

True that.
They have never bothered to question anything about him.

Just let him be sold from both, Chelsea AND Liverpool.
And never went back for him, despite he becoming 27 soon.
Was talking about his ability as a well rounded player, there are quotes from Klopp and mourinho.

Quite rare for players to go back to previous clubs

Liverpool has since signed Nunez and Chelsea now have Jackson and among some other young signings

...but the 'Bald Cunt' still shelled out £47million for a single player... Worth it or not!

Sometimes we can't win... either pay big, but get slated for paying overinflated prices, or haggle low, and get accused of being a cheapskate!

Which is it?
My observation about our Most Beloved Chairman was about wages - not transfer fees.

Not controversial that Levy is not willing to pay top wages. Given our revenues, we should right up there with Chavs, Red Scum and the Scouse

but instead our wages are the same as teams with much less revenue than we have

It’s why we are never in contention for top players in the market like Osimhen or Nico Williams - if you feel these players are Not good enuf from a footballing perspective then fine but that’s not the reason with us. Instead we take punts on potential like BJ (which sometimes works great but not in BJ’s case so far). There’s also a ceiling on what our Most Beloved Chairman seems to be willing to spend on a single transfer but that’s another topic.

Finally - yes - even if you are willing to spend - of course competence matters - Throwing money around like Clownlake without a clue is indeed stupid and worthy of ridicule.

You remember that window but you don't remember the window we got Lloris, Dembele, and Vertonghen, that is the classic negative bias people here were talking about earlier.
I remember all the windows.
I didn't know who Lloris or Vertonghen were, but I was excited for Dembele.
As usual though, it was a new manager. New manager = new signings.

Poch in 2018 "It's so hard to improve this squad"
Ange 2024 "we can't do it all at once" (or something to that effect)
