Look, I’m not a “Levy is Beelzebub” camp but this should be his chance to shine. Everyone else is fucked by PSR/FFP, We’ve got huge FFP margins, are now one of the most profitable clubs in Europe and will be for the foreseeable and are fucking miles behind the top 2/3 teams. We have one of the lowest salary to turnover ratios in the league.

I still don’t expect a Chelsea-easque 1bn spending spree, but this is a genuine opportunity to close the gap. Make 3/4 really good signings whilst others are hamstrung.

If ever there was a time to just nudge the riskometer up from 10% to 40% this is definitely it imo.

The only way we get Eze is if he kicks off?
No idea. I just felt we'd take that approach and that CP might listen as it helps them keep their tax bill down.

If Guehi is off as well though, I think CP will dig their heels in, otherwise they'll have pitchforks at the door for selling off all the Crown jewels.

We'll have to wait and see, but I'm not confident they'll get CP to agree any terms other than "meet the asking price all upfront or do one."

Having said that, it's no excuse. As has already been posted on here, we can take out a loan and pay that in installments. I doubt the interest would tally more than what we'd have to pony up, over and above the release clause, to get them to agree with staggered payments.

I agree just adding some fan perspective!

no idea.
Maybe because they lost Che Adams and neither Arsmtrong or Diaz are focal point strikers wheras Veliz has a bit of presence about him.
Armstrong is one of those who scores in the champ but hardly ever in the prem lge . Overall at Soton he is 1 in 4 which isn’t great for a striker. Over 2 season in the prem, 53 games and 4 goals.
I think Veliz will get quite a few games. Up to him to get stuck in.

Alvarez is too small to be a no.9 type that we need IMO.

The thing about Jan and Toby is there was very little aggression because they were both clever enough to always be in the right place at the right time. Something King was equally special at. I think back to that King Vs Robben moment and think that was actually a rare moment for him as he was usually better positioned. Toby and Jan rarely made mistakes, got booked and I don't recall any red cards at all. For me, a good defender is one that doesn't need to sprint around all the time and kick the shit out of the opposition to assert dominance.

We finished 11th that season. In the 2nd half of the season, our longest winning run in the league was 1.
The semi final 2nd leg and the final were really, really out of place for a season in 07/08 to say the least!
I don't think Woody and Leds barely played with each other tbf, especially the 2nd half of that season, various injuries etc. They were both a bit patched up for that final, but were immense. Shows what we could have had if they were more fit than not. ☹

Is this guy reliable?
