...You close the deal for twice what you were originally offered?
First, I doubt it'll be twice the amount.

But mainly, does it really make that much of a difference to our overall business how much Emerson friggin Royal goes for? Was it really worth allocating that much time & resources? I think not.

By 2nd rate I mean not in the elite class, rather a tier below.

Well he's nowhere as good as Kane so yeah you could say that but he was one of the best strikers in the Prem last season so if that means 2nd rate then I guess so 🤷‍♀️

Don't think we even need an elite striker anyway, just better/more consistent that what we have and a good runner/presser and our attack will improve.

This transfer window has been seriously underwhelming but maybe ( clutching at straws ) it could prove a silver lining if Gray, Bergval and Moore bring youth ,energy, intensity and fearlessness to the team.
Though clearly the defensive issues of last season still need to be addressed and I , like many others, am fairly nonplussed at the prospect of Solanke leading the line….
Still time however… COYS.

I did say in my original post on the matter that his stats last season were good, but apart from that hasn't his career been 2nd rate.

So we're thinking of signing him based on last season only, and ignoring the rest of his career.

Plenty of clubs have done that with plenty of players. He's played solid but not spectacular for three seasons up until the last one, then got really good at Prem level. But I suspect that the club are probably pondering much the same questions as you are.
