It will be back, I'd just reached breaking point.
The vast majority of the time I spend moderating the site stems from social/political threads, and I'm sick of it. There are little groups within the forum who are constantly arguing, and it spills into other areas of the site. These people will probably never discuss Spurs with each other (you know, the whole purpose of this site) because they know each other's political leanings.
A decent member has already left this week (Tottenham Sean). Others have emailed expressing that they are close to doing the same, and I expect we've lost a few others who have left without mentioning it. I'm struggling to see the benefit of allowing that kind of discussion here.
I don't know what the solution is. It feels like you either allow it or you don't. At the moment, I'm definitely on the side of not allowing any sort of political discussion. I'm sure it would still crop up, which brings its own moderating headaches, but at least having a clear stance on it lets people know it will either be shut down or they will be booted. As is always the case with these sorts of things, it's a shame for those who can engage in balanced discourse, but I'm not here to cherry-pick who should or shouldn't be allowed to express their views on these topics.
