How Dry should our Powder be?

The biggest problem is we lose the ball far too easily in the transition and this leads to us being caught on the break. Second half yesterday we were much more solid with Bentancur & Bergvall much more secure in posession and Romero is fantastic at beating the press, Solanke will help massively with holding up the ball and bringing runners into the play

Alfie Doughty is right there

Could be an option, but he did look weak defensively towards the end. Could be because of all the injuries and Luton as a whole came apart

During the week I watched a Conference League game between Silkeborg and Gent. Gent had this English player, Archie Brown, who used to be part of this great Derby U18 team back in 18/19. He would play on either wing or as a LB. He was my favourite player in that team despite them having an obvious star in Morgan Whittaker, a very hyped young player in Louie Sibley and other players like Festy Ebosele and a striker scoring heaps in Stretton. I don't know what Archie Brown has been up to recently, but he looked good in a not too impressive Gent team. Decent touch on the ball and then he's got this Udogie frame, which I like. Don't know if he's got the motor but looks interesting

Would anyone put it past Chelsea to sign Neto just to stop us getting him?

They have ZERO need for a left footed right winger that dribbles.

Even if they don't care about money that would be a stretch. Have to assume they like what they see in him. If Madueke is available now that could be nice competition for our RW. Somebody said recently he's not even HG. Didn't he grow up in England?

Would be a brave bit of scouting to take a kid from Gent but I’d rate it if it worked

I have a feeling that Solanke will go some way to helping with those set piece frailties, in much the same way Kane used to. Having that aerial presence can only be a positive.

What concerned me yesterday was how they were able to overload our left. Spence was man marking, yet they had 2 players free on the back post. I could have sworn that when he was bollocking them at half time, in the preceding match, he was telling them to go man for man. If that's what he's after, then someone else wasn't doing their job.

I find it ironic that Johnson is called out for "doing nothing for 85 minutes of a game," when he did a sterling job backing up Porro on the right. They targeted our left because it was the weakest flank.

It happens every game and has done for 6/7 months yet the manager doesn’t seem to see it as a problem. It’s how we always end up conceding every match. Drives me mad. Doesn’t seem to matter who is in the team either which tells me it’s a tactics problem. It’s exacerbated when Johnson plays as he never tracks back to help his fullback out.

We just don’t register Davies for Europe. We don’t need to get rid of him.
Yup, but don't think it would go well with the team. Plus you are left short at CB in Europe instead of LB. So back to the square one, some positions will not be covered in 100% with dedicated backups as long as we don't have more club trained guys. Unless we get rid of i.e. Davies completely and buy competent LCB/LB hybrid. But then another tradeoff - we block path at CB for Phillips/Dorrington/Vuskovic for couple years. Its not ideal as it stands and with current setup we have to pray for Udogie to be healthy and for Spence/VDV/Davies/maybe even Gray to be able to cover LB.

I’d prefer to use Gray or Phillips at CB cover in Europe than not have a like for like Udogie rotation all season
