Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

This continues to be a dumb conversation and irrelevant to the thread, so I'm not going to continue it, in hope that you won't bring it back up in a month in a completely unrelated thread.
You were talking down to someone about stats, got called out and couldn't respond so it has become a dumb conversation. Character revealing but no worries, it'll be left here.

I saw people in the match thread claiming an assist for the scoreboard botherer, obviously the fact the ball was played a yard behind Kulu doesn't register on the abacus or "scoreboard".
I’ve posted previously on the subjectivity and limitation of certain statistics.

A two yard square pass in front of a defender that’s cracked in from 30 yards probably qualifies as an ‘assist’.

Not every assist is a defense splitting pass that leaves a forward wide open. Johnson’s ball yesterday wasn’t well weighted but it moved the ball forward into a dangerous area and we benefited from it with a goal — probably no better or worse than any number of involvements that get chalked up as ‘assists’. It’s a pretty limited statistic without additional context.

Course it is mate, the context yesterday was a competent player would have seen the right thing to do was to play the ball in front of Kulu but instead he played it to where he saw Kulu last as he put his head down, the ball was lost but then a Bayern defender played the ball back into Kulu's path and he scored.

Agree with a lot of your post apart from this:
Johnson’s ball yesterday wasn’t well weighted but it moved the ball forward into a dangerous area and we benefited from it with a goal
It was the right decision and the wrong execution, what people who can't see will come to learn is the execution is down to technical ability and it ain't going to all of a sudden improve at 23. Just look at the kids yesterday, the technical ability is clear to see, it's the decision making they'll improve on as they mature.

moved the ball forward into a dangerous area? thats gotta be the first time ever a pass a yard behind the intended target has been said to be moving it forward into a dangerous area hahaha. thats the sort of compliment youd give a helpless toddler playing for the first time to encourage them to carry on. hahahaha

he struggled with that yesterday because its not as easy as just running and putting a low cross into an area, he had to be more precise...it needed some actual football intelligence, and technical ability.

What a mess of a post, liked by 2 people who are talking about signing a winger in the transfer thread, comical.

Btw, if the "scoreboard" is what they use to judge what dear Brennan contributes, does that mean he was contributed nothing in the 21 games he wasn't on the "scoreboard" last season?
Yawn.

The energy some of you weirdos put into hating our own players must be exhausting. Surely there's other activities you might actually enjoy you could allocate your spare time to?

If you honestly think dear Brennan is good enough to be starting for us then I can only assume you hate your own club.

Btw, assuming you're American, nice weird reference very topical.

They don't count goals on an abacus, they use the scoreboard for what Brennan contributes.

Meanwhile you lot trying to calculate his inferior "running around effectiveness":

:roflmao:

.........The irony, right!

Besides; the idea that goals and assists are nerdy stat-mongering is some fucked up post-FIFAgame backlash shit.

Don't get the reference tbh but sure.

No reply to the Brennan point though, not a shock tbf.

I do wonder what you'll have to say if we sign a winger.
Admin Admin banned political discussion so he could sleep at night.

Brennan will play more minutes at RW than any other Spurs player this season. I have repeatedly offered 10 £10 charity bets (hopeinharingey.com) that Johnson will be top 10 in the PL in combined goals+assists this season - as of yet 0 big-mouths have taken me up on these wagers.

I called BS on the Neto rumours from day 1 - we were never investing heavily in a RW less than 12 months after spending £50M on Johnson. If we sign a winger this summer, it will be a backup option for less than £25M.

Oh fuck I will 100% take you up on that.

Can't say he excites me, TBH. To me, he seems to be more effective when he comes off the bench.
I agree Mrs P.
A decent squad option. Handy to have around as he may pop up with a late goal or assist, but we could definitely benefit with an upgrade. And who knows, if he has to really fight for his place maybe he'll up his game and become the kind of player we'd all love him to be?
