Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Been looking at your forum periodically as a forest fan, and the opinions on bren johnson as. Glad to hear that that Djed and him may get play in the same line up and hopefully on the same side, these 2 had a great link up play when they played in the championship to the point teams were trying to mark both of them out of games. If they can recreate that in the prem they will be a phenomenal for a neutral to watch.

Out of curiosity why won’t LB work for him? I watched him for Genoa as a left back and left wing back last season and he was very comfortable.

More specifically; was his defending off of his left side good?

........The inverted/MF-ish aspect of our I-FBs would be less of an issue for a right footer, but the former is the toughest part of what the role asks of him.

He looked iffy with the ball going over his head defensively vs Bayern and both set pieces were also crosses going over his head.

Going forward he looked just as immense and tbf to him 1v1 defensively he looks fine both sides.

Looked like part of a bigger issue to me..... Both corners he was ineffective, but also outnumbered.

As others have said we seem like a dysfunctional combo of zonal and man-2-man marking that kinda amounts to neither.

I hope the gaffa wises up.... " I don't coach set pieces" would be a silly hill to die on.

I watch a lot of Italian football and when I saw him he actually looked a better defender than I thought he was.
It’s just the balance of having a left or right footer playing on their opposite side that can make it feel disjointed when defending. His recovery pace is such a big asset to have as a full back. He’s an absolute beast of an athlete.

It's not his footed-ness (kicking) that I'm talking about though..... It's the defensive instincts of how you're coached to push players wide, positioning etc. and the perspective from which you see the pitch. Just flipping the switch on your 'upbringing' and swapping sides doesn't come easy for a lot of defenders... FBs & CBs... Even if they are fairly 2-footed on the ball.

Seems like an easy problem to fix that could result in 5+ more points come the end of the season.

I really hope they also have a permanent solution for the opposition pushing our goalkeeper around on corner kicks. We conceded 3 or 4 times like this last year before we finally made an adjustment.
