Player Dominic Solanke

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Fucking hell.

He scored 19 goals last season in an attacking team, which has worse players than we have.

He spends 90% of his time and touches in the box, something we lacked last year.

He hasn't even kicked a ball for us and people are pissing their pants.

Is he worth £65m? Who fucking knows. But it's Levy backing the manager, something everyone cries to happen.

In theory it's a brilliant signing. It's just not a "big-name" one.
Great post

I don't know why people think the price is ridiculous. He's in his prime, coming off of 19 goals in the premier league, not the Belgian 2nd division.

£55m with another £10m in add-ons, which I assume get paid if he plays well enough to trigger those clauses.

In the ridiculous world of modern football, that's a fair price.

He suffers from unfashionable tax

If we bought Gyokeres for £70m per his release clause no-one is going to be baulking at the fee because he's a swanky foreigner coming from a swanky foreign club.

I think the trouble is he isn't proven for any more than 1 season. and the add ons on top of the £57m minimum fee are almost certainly pretty much box ticking excercises.

On the issue of add ons, I really don't like them. It's a team game and there are so many uncontrollable variables that individuals only make up a fraction of the whole. I get that you can say as a striker scores goals we'll pay £2m extra after he scores 20 goals a season for 2 seasons. But what if the service is shit? so many things that make it a lottery. Just agree on a price and it's done for me.

Neither is Toney or Gykores.

I see what you're saying, but it's a cushion for the buying teams......

Fuck the price - its the market. Had a fantastic season last year and we are always moaning about not paying the money Levy. I think its a good signing and give the man a chance.

But as someone else pointed out, it's the most recent season. This is where the player is now.

It's not a sure thing that he is at that mark or better year in year out. But for that, you pay £100m for a player with 1 year left on their contract (Harry). We are paying for the potential that he can replicate it, which makes the price a fair one (in the context of the crazy world of football). My 2p worth anyway lol

Market decides the price, the club can choose to pay it or not. Then the market will adjust depending on demand. My guess is that there was enough interest for Solanke that the market had no need to adjust.

We probably did get slightly better payment terms by waiting around though. Gyokeres seems to be almost exactly the same profile fit but I bet you the upfront payment for him would need to be much higher. That's probably why nobody takes him this summer.

Sporting will want the full 70m up front...... (see Porro - we had to give them a chunk of the Edwards sell on to soften that blow and even then it took a whole window to negotiate).

And I don't think they will get it this summer. If he repeats the scoring again this season they will get it and more.

It's a small window of opportunity given his age.... Again; same as Dom.

At the end of the day we took the plunge on the guy with EPL experience; which is the main diff. really. Hard to argue with that really.

I'm more than happy with Solanke. Others have seen Gyokeres so would have been maybe more excited for him but I never saw that much of him. The profile fit for both seemed perfect for us and we got one of them. Can't argue with that.

Has he got a number yet??

OBVIOUSLY I need to know before I get my Premium Matchday Pro Home kit printed up!!!

Don't wanna waste £150 in the wrong name, DO I..?
