No obviously the 50m on Evanilson is all Solanke money you are right. My idea was the money they'd already spent was the Solanke money but they have gone again. I'm also legit impressed by their ambition to do that.

I guess what I'm saying is that the game moves so fast and in 2024 Bournemouth with a tiny stadium and almost zero global brand can front up 50m ish for a striker, what is there to stop Spurs who have a huge stadium and hige global brand from being willing to compete for the most expensive deals on the market.?
🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 well said and you know the answer.

I'm no Levy supporter but I got to defend him here.

60m is definitely a marquee signing number. That he just takes forever to spend 60m to shave off a few quid is another discussion.

Do you think Bournemouth would have dropped 50m on Evanilson if they hadn't sold Solanke? I doubt it.
It's £40m Vs £65m as well

regardless of numbers that we never know how accurate they are, (I love Solanke btw and really happy we have him) what I'm trying to say is this:

I understand what you mean but you forget that we have also brought in other players, like Gray, and we're still looking for a winger (and a CM too?). So, in total, that adds up to much more than what Bournemouth can spend.

In terms of why we don't just go out and compete for the most expensive/prestige deals, the answer is that we're not title contenders and don't have the same prestige badge on our shoulder as other clubs have - nor do we just throw money at players for the fun it.

Let me elaborate. Tottenham is not seen as an absolute top club like Man City or Liverpool. We don't compete for the Premiership title... yet. We're a club with massive potential and with a healthy economy. That is a good stepping stone for glory days. On top of the fact that we aren't title contenders, we don't go out using Saudi money to completely destroy the competition. For many players, money is the greatest motivation. Just look at Ruben Neves, who said he could help his whole family for generations with the money he's getting. I'm oblivious to that, but more wants more and footballers are a great example of that.

When the likes of fucking Bournemouth are spending 40 - 50 million on a player mate, Tottenham Hotspur spending 60 million is not a reason to start stroking off the chairman or talking of Marquee signings. Especially after banking nearly £100milion for Solanke's predecessor.
It's the absolute bare minimum a club of our immense size and wealth should be doing.

You're right, should have just given Bournemouth an extra £30m for Solanke on top, just to appease our insecure fanbase and make them feel like we are competing with the bg boys 😍

Solanke for £85m sounds well cool!!!
