Wasn't there talk about Hayden Hackney, Middlesbrough midfielder some time ago (last summer, about the same time Wharton was discussed?). I have never seen him play, would he be an alternative now that Skipp's gone? Could he be fighting for a spot on the starting eleven if we got him, or would he be another talent for the future?

Age 22, DM. Supposedly it was he or Wharton for several clubs last summer but Hackney never moved. The risk is buying him and finding it takes time to adjust to PL, and imo if we bought him we'd be looking for him to replace Bissouma so its a big risk in offloading Bissouma who is a usually a starter. On the other hand Wharton stepped up for Palace very quickly

POTL's problem, which he couldn't have known about, is Willian walking out half way through the Spurs medical as the result of Abramovich talking to Russian Chairman of Willian's then club and agreeing a deal and Willian was told to walk out.
I actually think we need Wharton more when Bissouma is sold
He was a bit braindead with his shooting from tiny angles, but outside of that he was fantastic as per usual.
I think the fact that the club are selling Skipp shows how much they are bothered about having a full complement of club trained in the euro squad. . Basically couldn’t care less. We don’t need to buy players just to sit on a bench. To suggest we might buy one of the above mentioned players just to fill a gap defies description.
Have a look at other clubs euro squads last season. They just fill the gaps with youngsters.
