Blew it with Willian transfer. Sacked apparently for saying he had signed when he had just signed some sort of pre contract.

I know he stopped posting after the Willian thing but didn’t realise he got sacked.
Don’t understand why people would post sensitive information if it going to jeopardise their job. What do they get out of it? Some perverse superiority that they know something you don’t and some idiots hanging on their every word??

CT/HG nonces in the bin with this one!
Regardless of whether I'm in the bin, it is true that we'll have to make tough choices.

Even if we don't sign anyone else, one of these players will have to be left out of the Europa League squad. And any new signings will mean more omissions needed (unless they are club trained like KWP).

Who should we omit from the above for Europa squad?
Note I've already taken out Lo Celso, Solomon etc.

I think Forster is the obvious exclusion here, we can keep him as a league/domestic cup backup keeper and let Austin/Whiteman be the backup in Europe. Keepers are seldom injured anyway, it's very unlikely Vicario misses more than a small handful of games this season to where we need to overly worry. Frankly we haven't seen Forster play for a long while (the Fulham cup game IIRC?) and his last showing was completely dismal, I wouldn't mind seeing him take an early retirement and let the youngsters take up the mantle of 2nd GK, I scarcely see how either of them could have the same/worse reaction speed than Forster.

17 players can be non HG?

Vic, Porro, Romero, Dragusin, VDV, Udogie, Biss, Benta, Sarr, Bergvall, Kulusevski, Son, Werner, Richarlison

That’s 14.

What happens with Spence, Maddison, Johnson, Solanke?

Forster and Davies definitely won’t make it. So that opens 2 spots. Gray is too young to be counted no?

The simplified way of looking at it is this:

Foreign + Association trained limit = 21 players
We can have more than 21 players in our squad with the inclusion of club-trained and List B players such as Lankshear, Moore, Austin etc.

However, the number of players in my picture add up to 22, and thus we need to omit one of them for our Europa League squad (regardless of how many club-trained and List B players we include).
Any new signings we make, unless they are club-trained, will mean yet another player from my picture would need to be omitted.

I think in Europe even if the player is homegrown they need to have been at your specific club for either 1 or 2 years (it escapes me) before they count as u21 and don't have to be registered.

Completely agree with this, our GK back up situation is not great either way so we may as well drop Forster.
But if we sign another midfielder and defender, as is planned, we would then need to drop 2 more from our squad.

Ok so Forster and Davies buys us one signing on top.

So if we sign a CM and a defender one of them or someone from that list can’t make the Europa squad?

I don't think we're gonna sign another defender tbh, there's been no loan move yet for Phillips or Dorrington though you would think there'd be interest, I think Ange is looking to give Spence a chance this season after a good summer in pre-season, if you look at Gray as cover for 6 and RB and don't worry too much about Spence being right footed considering our full backs work more on the inside and don't particularly need to be on their strong crossing foot, we are sort of covered in all positions in all but the worst injury crisis. I do however think we will sign another mid if Skipp does go to Leicester, it seems obvious Ange wants one with the persistent Gallagher links.
EDIT: if we do go for a defender I reckon it will be an opportunistic punt on a former player that counts as CT like Cirkin or KWP.

Forster is the obvious one.
I think Ange needs to make a call on which senior players are unlikely to be required until at least January.

Having to leave someone out of a EL squad was never a reason to not sign a player that improves the squad.
